Well said! I loved reading the articles! So glad Thor is taking such good care of my old "baby" Thor, when I had the car I also had an issue with the cats's glowing red. Maserati of Seattle traced the issue to the air pump. The air pump was stuck open and dumping too much air into the exhaust manifolds causing the air/fuel ratio to be way off. Once they replaced the air valve, the issue went away. Mike
Ha I did not get it. I usually renew when I order parts if my membership has expired. $125 or so for me. I did think I would get "comped" as I put together the article and twisted Thor's arm (not hard by the way). Anyway, no pay no play for me so I have to get my subscription in
Thor, I thought you'd appreciate this. I was digging through my archives and found the very first picture I made of your car. I took this the day it was delivered back in October of 1988. Note my '78 Alfa Romeo Sprint Veloce in the garage too. Mike Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hey guys! Just a short update. Now clocking 12000kmtrs since November And not one single hickup during that time. Been a dead reliable car, love it to bits! Still doing about 1.2/3 on 10kmtrs. Oil consumption seems pretty normal for an old car.
Help! My 1982 QP III needs inner tie rods and I haven't been able to locate any. Is anyone parting out a car with good ones? Thanks Stan
will be at Ault Park Concours this weekend. in parking compound at entrance along with my 430 and 02 spyder. QP 1 in show
Hi Best place for this is MIE. I believe they are the same also as the Porsche also but don't have the cross reference handy.
Been super duper busy lately with work and other commitments and haven't had much time to work on the car or post here, but finally got a break, so I put a few updates on my blog, and will see if I can do a longer post, maybe with videos, outlining the carb teardown and rebuild. Still haven't received my copy of VCM, but am looking forward to seeing it. Thanks to William for organizing a QP3 registry, please do have a look and give some feedback on what you think, and register your car (or cars you know of)! It will be interesting to see how many cars are out there.
Let me address a few other things while I'm here... Mike - the headers glowing red may be due to the air pump as you state, but I think the problem is elsewhere. The reason for that is that the engine is idling very roughly, hesitates on acceleration and backfires. It sounds an awful lot like it's only running on 4-6 cylinders instead of all 8, and only one of the cats is glowing, not both. Oh, and thanks for the picture! When I finally started her up yesterday after getting the new starter motor, cable and freshly charged battery installed, she idled fine. I will keep an eye on the vacuum lines as GLB suggests, and might just replace the older ones. At some point I hope to remove all the smog stuff from the engine bay anyway. Question: will a very low battery affect the spark getting to the plugs via the coil? I seem to recall when I first got the car and took a longish trip that the same thing happened, and buying a new battery cleared it up. Could the coil not be generating a complete/strong enough spark consistently if the battery is low, resulting in only some cylinders getting a spark? Just wondering out loud... Charlie - you said you'd be doing a tune up/check late spring/early summer, and would read and post your timing and valve settings here. I'm looking forward to seeing your numbers, as I'm still getting 1.8/9 every 10km or so, pretty abysmal compared to yours, and I'm guessing there's all sorts of power I'm missing out on as a consequence. Stan - Jacques of Maseratiresource (eBay) sells suspension parts, including tie rods, ball joints and the like. I picked up a complete set a few years ago for next to nothing. Unfortunately I can't say if it's the same as a Pantera or 928, but it would be nice to know for certain. So far I've heard a lot of rumor and opinion, but no one who's actually cross referenced the part numbers or had both in front of them and measured them. Mitchell - congrats on the QP1 and let us all know how things go at the show!

Thanks Mike. Hope You'll appreciate this one, bouncing from 1988 up to 2014, this afternoon: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I just took a look at the QPIII registry site. It looks very nice and it has tremendous potential! Congratulation to the founder!! I will be posting the info on my car in the next couple of days... The best think was the following disclaimer found on the bottom or the web page: "All information in this site has been donated by weird people over the internet and is not guaranteed to be correct." hmmmm.. weird people... I laughed when I read it ... Very nice touch! Mike
Thor: BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! Your paint looks 100 times better than when I had the car!!! Thanks for sharing! Mike

Congrats, Mitchell! Sorry about the fender bender, a shame after all the miles she's travelled to get to you.
FYI I just attempted to register my car and after clicking on the submit button I got an Error 404 Page not found. :-( Tony
Hi Not all the bugs out yet. We can thank Dimitrios who is doing all of the work. I uploaded the brochure etc and Thor has agreed to help out. I am not too tekkie about loading things up so we have not yet officially "launched"
