Roma1280 I hear you on the downshifts. They almost feel like its an automatic downshifting- my theory is its faster than pausing for a rev match downshift but those feel more sporty and I also wish it would do it.

Does the car feel the ~300lbs lighter than the 575? On the fuel economy, I think the power bump is your culprit.

I'm glad you're enjoying it. It seems like a magnificent vehicle. Keep the driving impressions coming. I really enjoy reading them. Have you drawn a lot of attention? How does that compare to the 575?

patekswiss, for the past several years BMW has had heads up displays which show full color graphics which make viewing nav info very helpful. It shows your speed, speed limit info (if you want to see it), if nav is active it will show you how far to your next turn, arrows, and even highway or road lanes you should be in. I find it very useful.

Yeah, I don't like the idea of sticking a phone up there but if it works for you who am I to argue.

Yes it feels lighter, more taught, stiffer, more angry, much more powerful. I love the 575 but it feels like an elegant old lady now by comparison.

Yes in terms of attention it's definitely not the stealthiest car, that's for sure. In Manhattan, kids on school trips dive for their phones, people crossing the street in front of the car give thumbs up and annoyingly, guys in Toyota camrys dive behind you when you drive past and follow 3 feet from your bumper. The last bit is the only annoying thing, otherwise it's all fun.

Congrats. That is a beautiful car - the shields, wheels and center caps look perfect! I am heading to Maranello next week to configure my F12 and was considering a similar color (Grigio Ferro) with the same wheel and shield setup. After seeing your car, I am more confident will be a excellent look!

Ferrari F12 random observation - the horn:
So as many of you know, the horn can only be activated by pressing either of the two thumb shaped indentations which, to be fair, do fall under your thumbs providing you are holding the wheel at ten to 2 or keep the same grip even when going around corners. The indentations are surround by a ridge, pressing the ridge does no good, you need to get to the buttons inside the indentation. Lets say you are driving around a corner, which happened to me the other day and someone is jay walking and in a temporary lapse you forgot that you are a wanna be racing driver and didn't keep your hands on the exact 10 to 2 position and are holding the wheel real world style, with one hand, you then jump to press the horn, try to figure out where the buttons are given that the wheel is sideways, you then press the button sideways with your thumb except you hit the ridge around the button and the horn doesn't sound. So I almost ran the guy over and never managed to sounds the horn. Ferrari, the thumb buttons are fine but for dummies can we also have a horn button and the center of the wheel pretty please?

Grigio ferro is a fabulous color although I think it's a historical color so it's an expensive option!

Here is a pic I found on the internet - credit for picture to Polish Angel UK.
I like the wheels in the picture, look painted to match, I like the dark calipers and I think it would look great with no shields or carbon shields. Good luck with spec, please post exact spec when you are done.

Thanks for the pic... that looks perfect! I was planning a upgraded paint for the F12, if not historic than a 3 stage paint. I recently picked up a low mile 16M in Rosso Fuoco and after admiring that paint for a couple of weeks, it will be difficult for me not to seriously consider the upgraded paint options. To me its worth the up-charge.

Mark thanks for sharing the impressions and info. I agree, would be nice to have the center horn too.

It is indeed a very Fabulous Color and it's indeed a part of the Historical colors Range.

It's one of my all time favorite F color.

I'd like to propose a few F12 color combos:

"the elegant" - blue tdf, no shields, red calipers, blue dash/carpets, cuoio seats
"the stealth" - grigio ferro, carbon shields, black interior, black calipers
"the classic" - rosso corsa, yellow shields, rosso corsa calipers, tan interior

We need a spec call "the JIMMY*Z" after the nightclub in Montecarlo with the most EPIC parking lot. This is a tricky one, I'm going to go out on a limb here, but am open to suggestions:

"the JIMMY*Z" - giallo modena, yellow shields, aluminum calipers, blu scuro interior

looks great in that colour and with dark calipers/dark shields.
it also looks like lower lip under the doors either painted or maybe its a carbon fiber option - really nice touch
