It's interesting to see the comments on the Countach "assembled" in South Africa. The vehicles arrived in knock down form, all mechanicals, electrics and paint was done at the premises of IntermotorMakers. There was only 1 Countach, "assembled" there which was orange with tan interior. This I know because I put it together, a mere 36 years ago

This'll be this car then? Photo by Kurt Blythman. IMHO this is one of the best Countach photos I have ever seen... Orange with tan, new to South Africa, but now in the UK. Whoops, forgot this is the Miura thread. Relevant to comment above though!

I see and understand your point. I didn't know that Miura S has already reached $1M. I thought only the latest SV model could go so high..

Hello Vandle from UK. I own a IMM assembled Bronze P300 Urraco with tan interior, number 20204 and which was one of maybe 4 assembled, possibly by yourself? It has 2 IMM badges, one on each rear wing below the Bertone badges, one in English, the other in Afrikaans stating "Assembled in South Africa by IMM for J W Mitchell"
My good motoring journalist friend Andre Loubser was recently in contact with Billy Stein in an attempt to unearth more of the untold story of IMM. I received some photos of cars being assembled, including Lotus's. I would be fascinated to hear back from you.
    Thanks
    Chris

    Dear all,

I took those pictures two weeks ago in the museum of transportation in Luzern. This is a very nice place indeed! Some of the pictures were taken on the info display. Surely this car is known by many but I thought it could be worth sharing!
The Miura seems to be very original even though it is a bit tatty. It is apparently a gift from someone who lived in Vercorins, Valais.
    All the best,

    Ed.

if there are any photos of my car being built i would love to see them. As for IMM i thought the main player with this company was a chap who moved to the UK in the 80s and whos name i have forgotten but it will come back to me as i have googled it a number of times Brian ?? I am dyslexic but it will be stored somewhere in what passes for a brain. sorry to hi-jack the miura thread.

Miura in the Forstner collection in Germany. Not sure if this is a P400 or P400S , the car is black around the headlights and windscreen but there is an S script on the rear (not possible to take pictures from the rear as the car was parked close to the wall).

I keep hi-jacking the miura thread but i did not start it! I love this shot of my car too and the shades of orange against the green and dullish background work so well, and it is not studied, nor spot-on in focus and looks all the better for it as its a natural shot when so many studio/posed shots seem to suck all the life out of a car. But what makes it special in my oppinion is my hand on the steering wheel just seen through the window which adds the human touch suggesting man and machine although i may be gettting a bit too philosophical. Great shot and compliments to the photographer. stephen

That helicopter couldn't be less "Lamborghini-esque" if it tried! Looks like something out of Thomas the Tank Engine. Haven't seen much regarding Ferruccio's aeronautical antics although I recall reading about his interests in an old magazine scan someone uploaded a while back.
