I just got a call from dealer where the car is for 30kkm check that the valves are disconnected so it's open all the time and therefore the car is all time very noisy. I was told they open around 4k rpm.. In my eyes it makes zero sense to have them all time open, when You want to push you have over 4k rpm anyway ... am I wrong?

If you go for a long drive, you'll probably find the drone unbearable and you'll also be deaf by the end of it.

All it does is give you a nicer sound at start up and cruising through town (below 4k) which I do alot, I hate having it so quiet that it doesnt feel like your driving a Ferrari. I have the Capristo Twin Sound with Remote so I have the best of bot worlds.

Fabspeed is currently working on a Valve controller that will have three modes. We are planning to have an Always open, An always Closed (regardless of RPM) and an OEM type function with an adjustable RPM switch.

I do not currently believe that anyone offers such a controller, but it would be all of the positives combined into a package with none of the negatives.

Yes it's nice to hear the engine at low RPM. I had my valves unplugged before my S Line exhaust.

I have the Capristo remote and love it. I pretty much drive with valves open all the time unless I get a phone call (and hear it) :)

What about the effects on power/torque? Wouldn't power/torque be lower at low RPMs with the valves open?

I've never noticed any real difference. Power isn't really made till after your revs are up and valves open on their own anyways. It's really just for sound I'd say.

Only reason I can think of is if you go to a track that has noise level restrictions.

You also might try the Forza Componenti controller that is advertised in the for sale section here on FChat. Improved functionality compared to Capristro for half the cost.

btw does anybody know the logic when the ECU opens the valves? is it just rpm dependent or like the F1 shifting by throttle position too? or even the manetino setting?

It depends on RPM and engine load - you can experience that clearly when you rev it in neutral, the valves don't open until way up in the rev range.

There's a good writeup here Ferrari 360 & F430 Exhaust Valve Control Unit | Aldous Voice with a link to another forum where the logic is explained in more detail. It also describes how to build such a remote control unit if you are so inclined!

+1 on the switch. Amazing mod and very inexpensive. Even if you think you will mostly use the loud mode there are many times when you want to quiet the car down. For example of you are coming back late or leaving early or any other reasons you want to avoid setting off car alarms...

Are there any systems out there that allow you to run (i) always open, (ii) always closed, and (iii) OEM (i.e., opening only at higher revs/throttle position)?

Edit: Just noticed Evan's post indicating Fabspeed is working on this. Wondering if there are any systems already on the market like this.

Never drive always closed! The engine need open valves in higher revs because
the heat have to go out!

If the valves closed, the system get too hot!

And thanks for the vid Alan, looks fine!

But really big box, the Capristo is really small.

    Greetings Christian

Run “Open” all the time (as I do), you will save electricity by not turning the radio on.

haha I already did last nearly 5k km... i nearly got used to it but would get the remote control to be ready to leave more quietly from home
