Standard Rosso Chiaro but just a very bright sunny day today (unusually) with a lot of reflected light around the workshop!

Looks fantastic, can't wait to see more pictures. I'm trying my best to keep the Vetro thread going, but it would be good to
see more of these great cars here!

 

I can't wait to see the car either, it's been in Italy for ages! Should be here hopefully by the end of June at which point I will post tons of pictures.

 

Maybe we should post pictures of our cars, following that great picture from Mike. I will start with my little baby.

Well done Greg! Plenty of pictures of mine on here already, so thought I'd just list the little features that let you tell the
Vetro apart from the later cars.

The solid rear indicator light, the number plate flat on the rear panel not recessed, the reversing light in the bumper and
the single exhaust pipe, you can just see the ripples in the fibreglass bodywork and finally the joint in the 'A' pillar.

All to help with the reference nature of the thread.

Matching mirrors were available but not often fitted.

Rear defroster glass is present in my 1976 steel car, so at Vin #20405 at least an option.

By 1977 both of my 308GTBs have it.

Yes done on mine pre delivery by the main dealer apparently.

Im guessing it was another safety item required for US version cars and was thus standard.

 

At Mike's request, here is another picture of my Vetro. Sorry about the little person in front of it, but she was getting ready for her very first drive in a Ferrari! Can you see the excitation in her eyes? No? Yeah, me neither...

Hi Mike - I thought the single exhaust continued with the steel carb cars - and then changed to dual exhausts with the 2V injected cars?

 

Steel dry sump cars, were single, yes.

Steel wet sump , even glass wet sump ones were double exhaust.

 

I know this has been brought up before but do we have a definitive list of how many fiberglass cars with exactly how many for each market and with what features?

 

Hi Mark, a little mix of both really as it's had paint over the years where it's needed it
for chips, the odd scrape and the sills. Most recent paint was to the window frames.

Since we're sharing pics of our cars, here are a few ones from yesterday. You can tell it's not a steel car from the irregularities of its body, especially on the 2nd picture (rear part is the more obvious).

By the way, when I put her back in her garage, I checked the lights, and it appears she had decided she wouldn't open her right eye anymore... Tried it dozens of times, it opened only once... I wonder if this will magically be repaired by doing nothing, like it has been the case from most of the electric issues of the car since I bought her...

Thanks to Mike for showing the European features of the fiberglass 308. In keeping with an accurate reference, here are features of US spec cars that are different from the non-US versions:

Reverse indicator light integrated into the rear lenses, number plate recessed into the rear fiberglass, "dual-quad" exhaust pipe setup. These photos are from chassis 19567.

Per Mike's pictures, the A-pillar joint is the same in all fiberglass cars and they all have a little wave to the finish.
