    I was wondering what, if anything, people do to prep their cars for an annual track session? I usually try to track my car once a year so I can appreciate what it was made for. I had all my fluids flushed about 13 months ago and just had my oil changed a month ago. I've done 1 track session since all my fluids have been changed last year. Tires are about 1/2 a year old and have plenty of tread left (MPSS) and also have 1 track day session. I put about 4000kms annually on my car.

    My car is F1 with carbon ceramic brakes.

    Any advice? If things should be done can any of them be done myself (i.e. is there a DIY)?

    I would flush the brake fluid and go and have a good time.... but I own a 911 and just read these forums "just in case" :) I do track my car 5+ times a yr and maintain it ahead of what the manual says...

    Pull a tech sheet from hooked on driving... It'll give you a list.

    One day a year, I'm guessing you aren't pushing the car hard, so you should be fine. But check for leaks, make sure your brakes have life, your brake fluid is fresh, trans fluid hasn't been thoroughly roasted, suspension components are tight, wheels are properly torqued, tires are properly inflated, and all things are removed from the car (even the glove box).

    Thank you for the replies.

    Anybody with recommendations on tire pressures at the track? I'm running mpss 19" on bbs f1 wheels.

    Those are great tires that I run on my 911 at the track. For occasional tracking on a dry day, you might want to start off at 32psi front and rear and see how the car performs. One simple thing you can do, is mark the tread edge with a chalk so you can easily see if you are running over or under inflated. When ready for the next session, adjust your tire pressure accordingly. As for brake fluid, I use Motul high temp. fluid.

    If you only tracking once a year, then there is nothing more you need to do other than what you normally do to maintain the car. If you tracking once a month or two, then I would do more frequent fluid changes, check brakes and tires and wheel nut torque. If you tracking once every weekend, then I would get a dedicated track car...

    Good point about re-torquing the wheel lugs. The recommended 74 Ft-Lb. IMO is too low. I torque my F430 lugs at 86 Ft-Lbs. minimum. And I would definitely change the brake fluid even if tracking once a year. On a hot day and heavy frequent braking, you may boil the brake fluid. FWIW

    I can't say I agree with this. Infrequent, as in once per year, tracking actually makes me want to check things for sure! Wheel lugs and fresh brake fluid for sure and inspect things. Brake fluid could be nearly a year old in that scenario...won't see me on track with one year old brake fluid...
