I attended the unveiling at FOSV tonite. Unfortunately, i think the display car was the same as the one N4S posted - black with crema interior. With the dim lighting, the body panels almost seemed like flat slabs due to the black absorbing the light hiding the curves, and my phone pics did not turn out well. The dealer was prohibited from starting the car or raising the roof and did not open the hood or trunk. The interior fit and finish was very nice, with the switchgear and layout common to the 458 and F12 (e.g., turn signal buttons on the wheel). It seemed like the instrument binnacle didn't come up as high, which might help shorter drivers get a better view. The windshield is more steeply raked - I am 6'1" and the top of the windshield is near eye level even with the seat in the lowest position. It also seemed like there was less legroom in back. The back of the seats had a nylon netting instead of the leather for the pockets. The nav unit didn't have a carplay button. While I've been impressed with the pictures on the web, I came away from the unveiling with some doubt that the T would suit my needs from a usability perspective, in terms of being able to travel with my kids in back. . I'll need to demo this a bit more.
the soundtrack may not be complete, there may not have been a engine in the car ? Also Car play was in the car which 03 ordered, so perhaps we will have it ?
I think there was an engine, as N4S's pictures show, but I was told by my sales guy that they were prohibited by FNA from starting it as it is a pre-production unit and the fine tuning is still going on. He said it was nicely loud upon startup, but he only was able to drive the car into the showroom from the parking lot so he wasn't able to drive the engine under load. I thought it was interesting that CarPlay wasn't mocked up in the demo unit, but the marketing materials clearly indicate it will be available. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nice event. On second look, the radio/media center buttons are not rubberized but simply painted black with white lettering. There are a few rubberized switches, though, such as the controls for the dash display. Speaking of the grill...anyone have pics of the 2 other versions that are in the order guide? I assume the display car is an example of "front grill with chrome edges". Have we seen the black or the "chrome front grill"? FRONT GRILL BUMPER The front grill, normally painted in black, is available in two different versions. Good to hear we had the same experience, since our height is identical. The feeling of intrusion from the top of the windshield was worsened with the roof down. With the roof up it didn't feel that different from the outgoing car. For reference I sat in a Bentley GTC V8S straight after the Cali T. Was a lot better with regard to view and the "drop top" feeling. Not the fairest comparison, but worth mentioning IMO.
California T's in Maranello. I'll upload a video of all the new Cali T's I've seen there tomorrow (10+ cars). Image Unavailable, Please Login
