Hey Ltitus. I wanted to complement you--even before this response, for your respectful posting (and I know you have one following this, so I hope I don't regret saying this--Lol). Personally, I feel difference of opinion is great. We wouldn't have websites for us to express ourselves if we didn't (and it also wouldn't make us human). So I'm glad your hear and still responding. So thank you! Yes, sometimes we all get a little excited indeed. However, it only exudes the passion in how we respond to what we all consider the truth, lies or indifferences that we all agree or disagree with. It's understandable, as long as we keep it respectful, and/or pull it back in, when it flies off the rails (though we know it gets out of hand sometimes).
One last thing about the P1's interior for now (with all due respect Ltitus): Can you imagine what the same British press would be saying if it was an American or Japanese car being sold in it's price range with that interior? They would be ripping it to shreds. Just look at how the general media kills Corvettes and GTR's at their price point for not having all star interiors (though decent ones, in the case of the GTR). They obviously point these things out (interior) with kit and more track focused vehicles when sizing them up. However, the P1 appears to get a pass from the same media, cause it's English (from the Brit rags), or a Euro car with others. So instead we get euphemism's and pleasantries describing it's interior. And other just outright ignore (or quickly bypass) it when sizing up the vehicle. Of course, no media outside of England/English ones that I know, has had enough road time in the P1 to discern it's interior, accouterments, conveniences and practicality (the latter; both McLaren and the British media love to tout, alongside it's alleged all worldly, conquering track prowess) . Whadda you guys think about that (if it was magically an American or Japanese car with that interior)?
I'm so glad to be mentioned in your post. Even though I've never said there was some mechanical problems with the p1 or that the other test were wrong. It's ok to call me names because that's what you guys do when people disagree with you. But stop telling lies about things I've never said.
They will have to find customer cars I guess. I reckon Ferrari won't offer other test drives either, just as they didn't for the Enzo.
Nothing broken - not a bit of shame or embarrassment. Those who think there are motives behind my comments here or anywhere else are, and will continue to be, wrong about that. I've just been too busy doing other things to participate in the most important thread on the internet. So sorry you missed me. >8^) ER
thanks for expanding on the 0-300kmh. I couldn't remember the specifics at the moment. the bottom line is that 918 is freaky fast and that it is quite a bit more accelerative than many folks, and certain high profile journos, had believed.
For me personally LaF is kind of in a league if it's own as an overall package. The 918 and the P1 can fight it out ..
No sir I was talking in general and wasn't following any specific member. I stopped following this kind of acceleration number long time ago and been focusing more about trap speeds and track times.etc But that just me and how i evolved from my experience. That may shock you I never used launch control nor went over 120mph for a long long time on any of my rides. Maybe because I'm so saturated with my tuned Vipers traping over 160mph++ so I'm not after acceleration numbers anymore. Honestly I need to drive the P1 and the Veyron back to back same day to give real info. But as I always says i love the P1 lightness raw explosive power and race character as much as I'm in love with the practicality and the comfort of a Veyron. Totally different cars really night and day when it comes to driving experience. for comfort and daily usability I think the 918 will be the best current option among the 3 new cars. Can't really say anything about the new Bugatti and won't pretend I'm the Bugatti favorite guy, I'm just a loyal customer that been told some info. Mbn
It's just laughable that a guy who hasn't even been here a month thinks that after a decade on FChat I'm going to run away crying because the usual suspects in this thread are trying to marginalize my comments and disparage me yet again. I don't normally play the 'Newbie' card but that was a pretty dumb thing to say. In other news - four Pagani Huayra's have arrived in the USA in the past two weeks to be delivered to their owners. Pretty amazing effort for such a small-volume manufacturer to achieve certification given the DOT are no longer issuing waivers for safety related items. Maybe they can offer Ferrari some tips? >8^) ER
The differences between these 3 cars at all speed under 150 will not be noticeable. I guarantee you could vary the times/speed by a second or two here and a few mph there, and not a single person would ever be able to tell the difference. Humans just can't judge these things. Makes a big deal on paper, but the difference is zilch in reality.
The only car that has really surprised me in the end is the Porsche - some will tout the under-promise, over-delivery mantra again but clearly they went back to the drawing boards a couple of times and have really produced something worthy of people's money as a result. The brand may not have the cachet of these other two when it comes to selling a car at a million dollars, but I don't fear their ability to fill the order books as much anymore. It is the most bespoke of the trio, has arguably the highest amount of hybrid technology baked into it and despite the weight penalty they still made it perform. The smartest of all these manufacturers remains Jaguar though. >8^) ER
Actually I've closely watched the 918's development from the beginning and it was clear to me for so many reasons that it was going to perform the way it does. The only ones who doubted Porsche were the ones who weren't paying close enough attention. That made me chuckle.
Regarding me (I think): I didn't intend to call you duplicitous, especially if you felt that was "name calling". I should have called you "sly". So my apologies. I'll leave it at that. No point in pulling up any more of your quotes to watch you dance around them again. And If you read my prior post, you'll know, I for one have no problem with disagreements. That's good dialogue. I do have a problem with nonsense though. Enjoy the rest of your week.
Agreed. I've said those things in the past myself, cause I DID follow the 918 development and read the various writers, Porsche engineers, and drivers comments on the car during that development, when no one cared or paid attention (as you indicated). On the other hand, it appeared others were seemingly frozen in time, fixated on some numbers they read when Porsche threw the proverbial 'Paint On The Wall' after they commenced the car/program, giving it the go ahead. It's almost like many (Porsche and non Porsche fans alike) wanted it to be some under performing, peace sign greenie car, instead of a new Porsche Hyper Car implementing it. And welcome back to you as well Mark!!
I see you just can't help yourself. SMH. Such hubris. So funny. You're acting as if, what we all witnessed didn't happen, or we forgot. It was literally a public melt down. No biggie. And since you brought it up: What a coincidence that you magically came back after what I wrote (though I'm not privy to point attention to, give myself credit the way you love to). It's true! You're back now, aren't you? And you don't have to be a member to know who derailed a thread. It's called reading. Now let's move on. Continue as you were. And again, welcome back sir!!!!
You don't know me at all and your little melt down joke is missing the mark completely. God forbid I have better things to do than argue with the anonymous clowns on the internet. I did enjoy my 'Spring Break' but your perception of my absence here had nothing at all to do with anything that happened in this thread. >8^) ER
You only prove my point/post. So easy. SMH like a wet dog. Nuff Said. Night Night Now (though I know you'll be up lurking). For the sake of the rest of the board (especially in light of your most recent exploits), let's just keep it to cars.
Eric your Mclaren knowledge is welcome and needed on this site. I doubt there is anyone on this site that knows as much about Mclaren and specifically the F1, as you do.
Sorry I'm being stupid here, but I assume you mean that they would have been able to sell enough examples of that hypercar they were going to make. Maybe they can change their minds?
Probably the opposite of that - I think they judged correctly that in this crowded contest their recipe simply wasn't going to have enough sugar. >8^) ER
