The factory had a couple of LaFerrari models for the journalists to drive back in April. One was s/n 199039 which would seem to have been built some time ago. Production serial numbers are past 200000 now. Anyone able to relate that serial number to a particular month of assembly for other factory cars with a similar number? What was the serial number for the first production model sold?
The test car number is identified along with 'HYBRID VEHICLE' specifically.

    Here's the link.

Definitely some ridicule of McLaren, and "their fanboys' insufferable arrogance (Yes an excerpted quote/I didn't say that)" by a few posters.

Who knows? It's page 24 on their 918 thread.

    We'll see?

I like this summary/food for thought by one of the German Car Forum posters. He's actually the one that reported the news.

    FWIW:

"Seems to me like McLaren is just shooting blanks and claiming all sorts of numbers but shying away from actual and verifiable tests. Sort of like Jaguar Land Rover with their weight claims :)"

If this is really the case, and McLaren won't show up, then one would have to agree with this statement.

However, there's still time for this to be proven untrue. Let's hope it's not.

An earlier thread you participated in seemed to predict January 2014 for serial number 200000 to be built.

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ferrari-discussion-not-model-specific/367175-serial-number-200000-a.html

If we guesstimate annual production at 7,000 units as Ferrari have suggested that's ~583 cars per month, so nearly 2 months prior.

    F-Register identified serial 200000 as a US-spec 458 Italia Spider in Giallo Modena/Nero - confirmed in February:

Maybe the test car LaFerrari was built in December then if the number 200000 Italia was in the USA by February of this year.
Back in February 2007 I also note this Ferrari which also came to the USA market>

It seems that serial number * ZFFEW59A860150000 * was built for the USA market. It is a red over tan 430 F1 spider. It appears the buyer is merely 'flipping' the Ferrari as it is for sale back east with only delivery miles so far...

Going back a bit further on F-Register a 458 Speciale was spotted with a serial number over 200100 in December which pushes back the timeline a bit further.

Dude, what is your problem? You seem a little over the top with your hate. It is only a car. Don't buy the one that doesn't appeal to you.

BTW which of the 3 are you buying?

Berlusconi. Grillo. Genny la Carogna. Te...

    Sorry, guys. Go on.

The Enzo beat the F1 comprehensively, just read the R&T tests. Also noone has the cachet that Ferrari has. They can sell just about anything at any price.

Actually Ferrari is a small company, selling just 7000 cars per year. Porsche sells that many in 15 days...

Some Mclaren boys are apparently unable to defend their choice without harassing and belittling others.
Some Porsche or Ferrari fans / owners are tired of this.

Some comments by Mclaren fans about 918 are not justified. This car is beautifully engineered. As Ferrari and LaF fans it's not a problem for us to understand similarities and differences between these cars and appreciate both them. But it seems to be a problem for some P1 fans.

I think the issue for Mclaren is they are surprised of how well designed and performant are both LaF an the 918.
It's true: Mclaren were -if not the firsts, quite the firsts- to design and sell a "million" sport car in the recent years.
But now Ferrari and Porsche do the same thing. Better than Mclaren or almost as good. F1 created some "wow" effect. It's not the case with P1. This car has to seriously "compete" with LaF and the 918 in the heart and mind of all car lovers.
Mclaren certainly thought F1 -And P1- was a sign of superiority. Now they are afraid F1 was only a one shot surpise.

Just so I understand this... You spoke with McLaren and this is what they told you? Or you are projecting what you would like to be the case?

It's an attempt at explaining all this arrogance. Perhaps it's wrong.
    Have you a better one?

Bad "attent", or whatever that means AK. Explanations like that are what get employees fired for incompetence. I recommend you keep your day job.

I can understand a negative reaction to some of the vehement posts on this forum by the McLaren fans. But here you are projecting again with your "explaining all this arrogance".

I have met some of the leadership (as well as lower levels) at McLaren. They didn't strike me as arrogant at all. And, I have met some arrogant people in my life!

These 3 cars are a "statement" by their respective manufacturers, representing their view of the extreme car. A particular statement may resonate with you more or less than the others.

It must be interesting for non-car people to read this thread and see all the mud slinging based on speculation, here say, half truths, and wishful thinking. All over cars that make little sense, real world or otherwise.

I agree with your post. I lacked precision. When I wrote Maclaren, I 'd been thinking "Mclaren boys". (And Ron Dennis )
Seriously. You won't agree but I personnaly don't like the way they present themselves (the most successfull F1 team*), their cars ( the best, obviously). How do you call it?

    * Based on the ratio victories/presence prefered to the pure number of victories... Claude Harmon - do you know him?- better than Tiger Woods... Do you believe it?

Mclaren boys need to be free from negative attitudes against mclaren competitors.

But I repeat: I agree with your post.

Sadly, I have wasted more of my time reading this thread. I came back here to seek updates and relevant information relating to LaF vs 918 vs P1. Instead it's just page after page of irrelevant arguing and schoolyard bickering. Shame.
