There's two threads, two locations. What's the story? Are there really two competing views?

I guess so, Tillman. Mine is at Fox & Hound for 1:00.

I did not intend it that way, but I had already made arrangements at the Fox & Hound when FCA later made other arrangements for another place.

I am still going ahead - and we will have the Indy 500 on at 11:00 and then replay the Monaco race at 1:00 or so.

Again, no offense to FCA, but I did it as a contributing effort and had already scheduled it and yes - I did tell Shawn in advance.

We have been working on viewing party for a few weeks. James, is a member so he receives the emails. He asked me Saturday if we could do it at Fox and hound. I informed him we already had one in the works. He then told me he was having one at Fox and hound. We have a planning committee that works hard on these events. It is not fair to them to change on a dime.

We have been to several different venues and they all invite us back. Fox and the hound is the only one that "basically" kicked us out.

I sent a email to the planning committee asking them if they wanted to return. No one wanted too.

My opinion is majority rules. I have no problem doing what everyone wants to do. Tillman, you of all people understand this position. The highs and lows and time associated with it.

I am not going to start a blood feud on this now, but it would seem that there is plenty of room in DFW for both groups to hold a watch party without rancor.

We welcome anyone who wants to come to Fox & Hound, and I am sure everyone is also welcome to Shawn's FCA group at the other venue.

Like I said - I did this as a contribution to the general community and did notify FCA. It was my definite impression that it was OK to go ahead, which I did.

I have an adopted cat. She and I are going to have some wine and cheese now and review this little snafu in the morning.

BTW - my main purpose with all this was to rehabilitate Fox & Hound as a venue because they have the best video room we have been to up until that jerk of a manger dissed us. They want us back very badly - they have even had an audio/technician in last week and I have gone there twice to make sure the disk will play and that the sound issue has been resolved. It may turn out that this venue is a valuable asset to the FCA in the future - which was my intent from the start.

I go now to watch Magnum P.I. with the adopted cat.

this is now at least the 2nd time you and Shawn have miscommunicated around an event and result was partial or split participation. whatever it is, the communication needs to be worked out. if you want to do non-FCA organized events James, that is great, Don and I do those too. if you want to do a FCA event everything needs to go through and be crystal clear with Shawn and the planning committee. when it comes to FCA DFW, Shawn is in charge, no room for self initiative, interpretation, or assumptions.

all that said, no big deal.

Tillman and I were just reminded that we did our time, never again. :D

I believe the watch parties have all been scheduled on the Ferraidfw webpage since January? Albeit not with all the details but at least scheduled. That said, I for one, being a volunteer on the planning committee, do not appreciate what seems to be a mindful effort to create a dilemma among the membership. And if its not a mindful effort then I have to ask why do competing events at all with the knowledge of already planned FCA events?

Why, James, are you not volunteering for the planning committee? Seems you have plenty of time to plan events on your own? Or do you have skin the game with The Fox and Hound?

James, you lost the election. Stop acting like the President of the FCA. Your motives are transparent even to the most obtuse. You can run again next time and if the membership thinks you can lead the club even further in the right direction you can have all the events you want at the Fox and Hound. Until then be gracious, be a supporting member, or resign your membership because you are not acting in the best interest of the club.

We don't like it when Mommy and Daddy fight!!!! LOL

I found myself sitting between Shawn and James at breakfast the other day... even though I've not been to any F1 watching events lately, I remember the ones we did in the Rob and Tillman days.

The facts seem to be this: It seems Fox and Hound has been aggressively pursuing James to bring the club back after a really bad experience. They reach out to James because James was their contact back when things went badly.

As I understood James, his going to Fox and Hound this weekend was going to be a test of sorts, to see if the service would be better, and if the audio visual would be up to par.

I don't think James is trying to cannibalize the FCA's event, it's just that the FCA won't plan another event at Fox & Hound unless they prove things have changed, and even then, it's going to be a tough sell. But the F1 Watching events are something James is passionate about so he cares deeply that an ideal venue be found.

It seems James is open to giving Fox and Hound another chance because other than the outrageously poor customer service, Fox & Hound sounds like the best viewing experience for an F1 gathering. Management at Fox and Hound appears to be aggressively determined to change the FCA's opinion of their inability to provide good service.

I think we can all agree that it's tough to find a place to watch F1 with a large group that doesn't suffer from some deficiency - can't hear the audio, service poor, can't see the TVs, they don't have the right channel, parking sucks, blah blah blah.

IMO, the best watching party we ever had was at the Coppell Deli at 7am watching Singapore live. Just a data point. :D

Now I'm the one that's confused too.... why 2 events on the same day for the same purpose, drawing from the same pool of members?

James, weren't you one of the ones who pushed first to not plan events on the same dates ( RE: Toy Drive ) then went on to question why there would be two separate events ( After we worked so hard to come to an agreement on event dates )

Now you appear to be working against the FCA events, by planning them on top of each other, even after you have spoken about it openly and privately.

Is there something the FCA is doing poorly or wrong that might be corrected so that the largest Ferrari group possible may join together in one large successful event?

I mean, I'd understand if I put an event together at Taverna Rossa in Plano ( LoL , Francis ) and no one wanted to come out. But it seems that the events have been the largest they ever have been since the FCA events started and built on what Don/Carolyn/You started.

Heck, maybe I should create an event Sunday too, free food, free test drives, Boutique discounts, and more... ( Just KIDDING ) :) ... Well, maybe for a future event, if requested.

What can we do to make this work together?

Fair assesment, but why not " try it out " by yourself, maybe another member, but not promote it, until it is known to be a good venue again?

THEN, work with the established planning committe to make the most successful event possible, rather than divide?

I seldom make assumptions, Rob - but it does occur to me that it will be a sad day in Texas when there is no room for self initiative.

I'm with you bro, but different when talking FCA DFW. we don't want too many cooks in the kitchen or miscommunication for FCA events. Even the non-FCA events you, Don, and I do should try to coordinate with FCA for minimal conflict.

I believe that I posted that the Fox & Hound was NOT an official FCA event.

I also clearly communicated (several times) to FCA that I was having this.

No offense to anybody, of course.

just for the record, I actually enjoyed the Fox & Hound as a venue though like the rest of you, did not appreciate the way they treated us at the end. personally, I'd be willing to give them another chance given the management change. I also used to live on top of the original Frankie's here in uptown and was a regular there for a while...until I got to know that owner. I'll leave it at that...

fortunately (or unfortunately) I can't make the watching event this weekend so don't need to make a choice between the two...unless Steve really is throwing this killer party he mentioned, in which case I'll cancel my other plans ;)

"Several" represents plural. Everyone I have talked to only heard about it once. But that is truly irrelevant. I wish you luck in your event and hopefully in the future we can all plan together.

ohh, I thought it was just a miscommunication issue. now I see you purposely started another F1 watching event knowing that the FCA does a watching party most races. now I'm really pissed! ;) ohh wait, I've only been to one F1 watching party in 2 years.

    Farmer Dave,

With all respect, I implore you to come to some of the venues Shawn and the Planning Committee have procured for watch parties thus far. All that I have been able to attend have been equal to or far better than the Fox and Hound with regards to A/V quality, parking and customer service.

As I understood, the "test" of sorts was the Spanish Gran Prix and there were multiple A/V issues? Albeit I was not in attendance "out of respect for all mothers...." LOL.

I also cannot help but to question the "facts"? Who is "aggressively" pursuing whom? My understanding is they're under new management. How does new management know anything about this situation and/or whom to contact unless someone has enlightened them and requested they "make it right"? And if James is being aggressively pursued why not give management Shawn's information and let him deal with it or vice versa? Why is James not on the Planning Committee if he is passionate and cares so deeply regarding F1 watch venues?

As another astute member has suggested why don't we wait and see how delighted the Fox and Hound is to have us during football season? That may be the true test.

I can appreciate your defense of James' actions and motives. This is my 70th post on this forum in many years so I don't do a whole lot of posting. I have never flamed anyone here or anywhere else for that matter. But in this case I know EXACTLY what is going on and I am tired of sitting back and being PC. I have recognized a pattern of behavior, see Italian Club Dinner fiasco, (as well as others). The Italian Club didn't aggressively pursue the FCA to come back either. I can rest assured knowing that my sentiments are silently echoed by many others.

    You know what?

In the immortal words of Yogi Berra (baseball great) - "It is not over until it is over. But, when it is over, it is over".

This one is over. If anyone wants to join me at Fox & Hound, we would love to have you.

If not, be there with Shawn at the other place.

Sometimes, things really are just that simple.

    James
