Ferrari LaFerrari vs Mclaren P1 vs Porsche 918

ok, I think I misunderstood what Andrew was asking: whether or not you can immediately drive off using petrol engine, instead of whether or not you can fire it up with turn of the key. in the Slatan Ib vid, he drives off using emotors first and then the petrol kicks in when he floors it (he is in default E-power mode). cars and coffee video is not clear on this procedure. but I think it hardly matters in the end. this is how I understood it, from what I was told.

when you turn the key, the car 'starts' into E-power mode, which means you can then drive off in silence using e motors only (then floor pedal to fire up petrol engine).

however, after you start the car and it enters in E-power, you can then turn the small dial on the steering wheel into Sport-Hybrid or Race-hybrid and the petrol motor will start up, and then you can immediately drive off with that engine screaming.

so essentially it just requires just one more step. instead of turn the key = petrol fires up
you have to turn key + turn dial = petrol fires up. to me that is 2 step equivalent to turn key + push start button on a Ferrari (or any of gazillion other cars out there with start buttons)...even though technically the 918 is already 'started' with key. still not sure if it can be set up to start petrol engine immediately on key turn...but that hardly matters in my opinion as you can immediately fire up the engine. Doom?

 

Wouldn't surprise me if you could drive it like a golf cart once you switch the power on.

Alex, I'm not ashamed to admit that, had I the chance to choose all over again, I'd have gone for the P1. As in everything at whatever price level, it's how you personally see it and what it makes you feel like. Case in point, this CH test. You love sensual screamers. Me too. For one night. I love intellectuals who are great at everything for a meaningful, long term relationship...get my drift? I'll still love my hot Italian though, just wished I could've put a ring on the P1's finger.

 

First parapgraph is not his conclusion about LAF but a remark concerning people like you.
I didn't find the second paragraph.

"A more complete product" than P1, greater sound and more beautiful. For the track we'll wait real comparisons, Mclaren being broken promisies specialist.

Mr R.F., are you saying you would've have gone for a P1 in addition to the LaF you have coming in?

Or that if you have to choose, you'd choose the P1 over the LaF?

The LaF is much harder to get.

How do you read this - "a more complete product"?
For me it's the exact definition of what you are searching: a long term relationship friend.

"More complete product" because of what you want but more complete product than P1.

The second paragraph has been written in an other review before this LAF test. To post this as a definitive CH conclusion is intellectually dishonnest.
The fact that CH is not as emphatic now should force you being more careful in your comments on what others try to say.

I was sure about your definitive CH review interpretation, consider my posts as traps for reactions like yours.

 

The LaFerrari customer already has several Ferrari models so why would he be unhappy with more of the same only faster?

 

I do not know what he wants. But if he's searching an uggly object for track, perhaps the P1 is a better choice, having said that a road car cannot compete with true track cars.

The problem is not what he -or others- wants.
The problem is how you deal with informations and reviews. In not a very honnest way, my opinion. Sorry.

It seems -reading last reviews- the Laf is THE Car. Homogeneous and complete.
P1 is an ET Thing with an overboost button.
