Hi Guy's I removed my passenger side dash vent today to remove the old sirius antenna someone had installed. Looking inside the vent I see this wire loom that is not connected and I can't see the other end it was/used to be attached to. Does anyone know what this is for or connects to? Thanks! Does your sound system have tweeters? I recently changed mine out for Focal's and recall that the speaker wire employed a gray/purple combo. They were located just under the driver and passenger vents.
Is it for the temperature sensor ie. the little black squale panel with slots in located in the central (usually cream) pad that sits just below the dash near the steering wheel? (saying that though I would of thought your HVAC unit would report a fault if it was disconnected) Image Unavailable, Please Login
IIRC If you undo the hex screw on the end of the panel you can pull that end panel/vent out and have a proper look. Photo shows cowl removed but I thnk you can do it without taking that off (only 2 screws even if you do need to loosen it) Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks guys! There is aftermarket tweeters installed, So this makes sense. Jeff my HVAC unit is sporadic. Clock will flash and not keep the correct time. And will work only half the time last season. But I know that's pretty normal for these units. Just wish there was a permanent solution. Thanks for the pics! I have a sneaking suspicion the trickle charger has something to do with the unit not working all the time. Last season I had the charger on most of the time and had more issues with the unit not working. This season (so far) no charger and unit is working correctly, Just the clock still blinks. Just a thought. Cheers
the clock blinks when it needs setting ie when it shows 00:00 set it and will stay solid.....or until the fuse goes lol
Yes, I always set it. But every time I turn my ignition on she links to blink at me again. Awhile back there was a thread on someone trying to rebuild these units. Think it was Daniel but it never came to be. To bad I was looking forward to replacing it with a Hill Engineer part!
Id be tempted to unplug the yellow connector from the back of the unit and clean the connections with contact cleaner. I'm just in mid process of diagnosing a problem with mine 348 DIY "Restoration" - Page 155 May be worth puling the carpet up in the frunk and checking the conditon of the fuse next to the green relay - maybe its a bit melted (quite common) and is causing an intermittant disconnect???
If you get tired of the sporadic functioning of the HVAC system, and you need a nice Summer project, check out "Ferrari 348 Climate Control Substitute" series on YouTube. Takes a while, but works great when done.
I was having problems with the functioning of mine and not the clock. I disassembled it and cleaned everything. As soon as I did, all HVAC function was restored and has been working for a few years. Now for the side effect......any time I push any button the clock changes, not resets, but changes all together to some random time either blinking or not. I decided this was as good as it gets and I don't need the time anyway.....lol
Hi Guy's Thought I would give you an update. So for the last few weeks I have NOT been using my ctek trickle charger and the clock has stopped blinking and has been keeping the correct time even!! Hvac controls and functions work correctly as well. I'm going to use the trickle charger next week and see if this changes things again. I'll keep you posted. Thx again!
