I am suprised no one has done high end 1/18th F1 before. If they do them right and do the best cars this could be a good thing for collectors with alot of kits and not alot of time who want top quality without building it themselves.

+1... I wonder how detailed this model will be... Like the Exoto's the detail is very good but BBR is not known for details as most of their models are closed... meaning doors, hoods don't open. But it appears that the mock up version, the top body panel looks like it will open to see the engine, cockpit details... I just hope its done well, similar to the CMC, and GMP Ferraris....

It seems you're forgetting the BBR 375 Plus and 512 BBLM.

Judging from the quoted prices these models will not have opening features. I'm not going to pay 400 euro for a sealed model. Too bad.

It was originally a Protar kit made in Italy. It was reissued by Revell (Germany), their kit no. 07229. To my knowledge the two versions are identical except for decals.

It is a resin version as it is a Project 18 model. BBR has stopped making and will not make anymore diecast 1/18's. They told me so a couple of months ago.

Mine are all Protar - they are ok, not like Tamyia but passable. you have to really do a lot of work on them to get them to fit well... Now a days it takes me couple of months to do a kit since i just dont have much time.

Don't you think the rear wheel diameter is a tad too small ?

    Mine is on its way.
I am not a fan of resin models, especially by the "Italian" companies (they are actually made in China) exactly because of their prices and underhanded practices with "limited editions".
However in this case I bit the bullet just because the subject matter. I bought mine for $250 from the BBR online store store, so I don't know what are you talking about when you say waaaaay too expensive. As a comparison the not-so-great 312 T2 from Mattel elite is about $120. Actually I got the last Villeneuve car available. They were all sold out during preorder period. I wonder what they would start showing up on e-bay for.

I just received an e-mail from BBR telling me that my model will be shipped in January, because the batch they received had defects, so they are waiting for a new batch. That much about the "made in Italy" claim.
