Understanding how my 360 works...

Do you know any website or book that would explain how my F360 works? For instance, I would be happy when I stand in front of the engine with a friend to be able to say more than.... Uh...well, this is, uh, the engine....

More specifically:
1. Be able to identify each compornent of the engine (for instance this black box at the center, or the diagonal metallic part between the 2 banks of cylinders, all these tubes and wires, etc)
2. Know all the special points of this car, like the fact there are 2 fuel tanks, that the air for the engine comes only from the top rear left intake, or what is the use of the rear low air intakes? Where are located each of the radiators?

The owners manual would be a good place to start. If you want more in depth knowledge, the shop manuals can be found online.

Eurospares (and many other sites) have IPBs (Illustrated Parts Breakdowns) which may come in handy. With a few clicks you can zero in on various areas of the car and by following the numbers track down the name of the component as well as its location. Start with the "cooling system" drawings, for example, and you'll find things like the twin radiators (at the front), the water pump (on the front of the engine), the expansion tank (near the aft part of the engine compartment) and so on.

You could try a parts supplier like Ricambi USA. They have an index for the systems and an exploded drawing for the systems with each component named.......and the price

 

Start with the owners manual. yes, actually read it. Its something less than 10% of owners actually do. (Chapter 7 in the manual. Looking at the pictures is a great way to start) Download it from ferraridatabase.com if your car is missing it.

Then, you can go to ricambiamerica.com and look at the diagrams to take it from there...

I already took a look at the workshop and owner manual, as well as ricambi... It is missing explanations (ricambi, workshop) on how it works in details (owner).

The best is definitely aldousvoice... But it focuses (with talent) only on a few parts, and he now sold his 360...

It is amazing, actually, that nothing exists like that. Someone I know went for years thinking the heater on his Challenge Stradale didn't work, until I told him to try pressing the "Stop" button on the dash. Instantly the heater worked!

 

I refer to this book a lot when I am looking up things about my 360. Highly recommend.

+1 on the owners manual. It's a must. Once in a while I take it out of it's pouch and look at it again in case I missed anything.

 

Same here, I'm looking for detailed design info like how much downforce does the car get at what speed? Air intake ducts info: like I think the front fender side ducts are to cool the brakes?

That stuff is in the book Dan. I got a copy without a jacket for cheap and it is 87 pages of good info! Although it is in three languages so 1/3 of the info is good! Here the specific data that you asked about!

Got the book... Interesting indeed, but not technical enough, the only info I got (but maybe Aldous already reported it) is about this valve connecting the 2 plenums. So far, workshop and owner manuals are the best.
