It depends on a lot of variables - sticks are worth more than automatics, major issues like the rear shocks/levelers, condition of interior, engine mounts, belts, hoses, leaks, etc. all effect the price. I worked via email with a dealer in Europe for a nice one that needed some interior work, exhaust, and maybe some more and the best price I could get was 36.000 euros ($54,210) for a 5 spd. Several on ebay for less but don't know their condition. Hagerty is not a good source for cars that are infrequently traded and most trades are private deals. Maybe your post will provide some better data.

As always condition mileage and history are key, the gap between manual and auto seems to be growing for both 400 and 412.

known recent 412 sale prices in UK range from 90k mile Auto in excellent condition sold at auction for £19000 (now up for sale at dealer for £32000) and a recent sale via dealer for a 6k mile "as new" manual for over £70k.

    That's a trick question :D

Being that you haven't filled out your profile, we don't know where you are

Cars in Europe are going to be more expensive…period :(

Hagerty has a value guide, they're a US company so they're reflecting the values in the US. Click at the top left-hand side on 'Find a Vehicle' to check other years or models. This isn't absolute but they'll insure them at a 'declared' value.

    Price Guide Report

5-Speeds fetch about $5K more from what they tell me.

Manuals are worth at least £5000 or $8000 more in uk and the gap is widening maybe nearer $10000 . certainly in Europe it's around this mark

Yeah, the real value is in the driving experience :D (plus looking at that gorgeous car & it's engine).

    Wow, that's a significant uptick!

One of the cars for sale here in the UK is described as 'recently restored'. If you read into the link, it hasn't. It has had a respray and some trim to the front seats.....and is priced accordingly. That does not constitute a 'restoration'. It is a tidy-up.....possibly to help sell the car. Restorations run into 6 figures and beyond....it all depends on the owners level of enthusiasm and wallet. You only get what you pay for......and a cheap 400i is certainly on the list of 'buyer beware'. IMHO.

The word "restored" is one of the most abused words in the old car business, and not just Ferrari's.

Time honored response to moving a product that isn't selling: raise the price!

Maybe the market will catch up with the price eventually, maybe the seller isn't really interested in selling, maybe the seller is crazy, who knows?

I've seen the same reaction to a couple of mondial that weren't selling in the UK. Raise the price up!
The words reassuringly expensive springs to mind

What is the value of a good 365 5-spd manual vs. 400/412 versions (manual)?

Which car do you guys think is inherently more valuable? Better? apples to apples

I tend to think the carb'd cars (365 (most valuable) & 400) are more valuable than the injected cars (I own a 400i) and manuals more valuable than autos (I own a 5 speed). This could be because the carb'd cars sound better and are more like the Daytonas'. I don't think they are more usable however.

which dealer has a 6,000mile as new car and do you have any details? I know all the RHD manual cars, and I don't think any of them have as little as 6,000miles on them - was it LHD?
