Nuts! That had to have been by less than a foot.

 

Not only that but the nose gear and main gear were below the height of the posts in what used to be a fence.
There are also two people laying down at the base of the "fence".

If you look closely in the last slow-motion sequence you can also see what appears to be a post getting knocked out of the ground on the far side of the A/P.
The main gear touched down in the sand well before the runway.

 

Maybe he forgot to set the auto throttle.


I've seen that before over at SFO. Maybe you heard about it?

Its wasn't the pilots fault, the throttle settings are confusing to Germans and Asiana Pilots alike

There should be a dent or two in the bottom of that A/P.

 

I think that was a setup... At least it was, before he hit the fence.

 

Expensive setup.
