Correct fuel hose and clamps and correct clamp orientation. The currently available replacement hoses that look correct have a different (smaller) OD than OEM so the original fuel hose clamps can't clamp down on the smaller OD properly. It felt great to put the right hose on this car and use the original clamps it came with.

I also miss one conector, but found original "hard-shells" from old washingmachine wires, that was dismanteled, it was made in Ireland 1980's

Doesn't look much different but its a picture of a running flat 12. Fired it up just before 4 this afternoon and watched it idle. Basically observed it, set the idle speed and let it get up to temp, fans cycled etc. No leaks no drama - I don't need drama in my life. Tomorrow Ill check and balance the carbs, check timing and so on. Test drive to follow which is a great way to end a week!

Planned on a road test today but that didn't happen. Tomorrow is a possibility! Today the rear heat shields went in and I finished up the rear clam shell wiring. Turns out the wiring to the rear wasn't just cut but it was shortened by about a foot. Not sure why because theres no evidence of any rear damage in the past, all numbers match including the bumper.

The LR tail light cover has an added notch for the shorter wiring to be able to reach the main clam shell plug, Ill repair the notch and route the wiring back to the top. Normally the wiring from the chassis enters the LR cover from the top not the bottom. I replaced the wiring so its the proper length and installed the proper silicone opaque sleeve that leads to the LR tail light cover.

Bottom two pics show how it was (wire entering bottom of cover) and last pic shows sort of how it should be (ignore the electrical tape and cobbled look) entering the top.

Hello Paul; It goes without saying, what a unique pleasure it is for myself & a myriad of others to be allowed to watch a true master auto restorer at his craft.

I was wondering if two identical Boxers were to be timed around a racing course, with the only exception being, "1" Boxer had the stock headers & ride height & the other had after market custom headers which allowed the engine center of gravity along with ride height to be lowered, by what looks like 3 inches.

What would the time differences be?!

For myself if having the opportunity to own a Boxer, the FIRST change I would make would be the installation of a set of custom headers & the subsequent ability to lower the rear ride height. In the racing world & Porno...an extra "3" inches is allot!!!...Alex

Road tested today after some other details I had to sort out.

I thought it would look pretty cool without the rear grill but it doesn't. Its out for anodizing after stripping the paint off. Its a quick turn around so it'll be back together shortly.

So the road testing. I made a small jet change after my first road test, took three in total today and the car is awesome. High center of gravity, limited success in LM racing who cares! What a great car to drive, tons of torque and what an amazing sound they make and they look so cool. 70's flat 12 road car, hand made panels, 2 clamshells, Enzo was directly involved, whats not to love? Its nice to see people are finally waking up and realizing this awesome car has been flying below the radar for years.

Such a nice job I'd probably be tempted to drive the hell out of it just so I could see another thread on you restoring it again.

Completing more of the small details. Installing a period correct radio, the mirrors, trunk detail, fuse blocks are being upgraded to Sam's awesome creations (Sam you need to make more).

Radio wiring left a little to be desired so I soldered on new connectors so the replacement radio can be unplugged easily. I installed an older Blaupunkt, pics to follow.

Nice to see the spare tire belt that's often missing. Jack kit is under the spare that still wears the paper decal.

Im in need of the master cylinder reservoir cover that 76-78 512's have. Its a felt covered lid but theres no part number (comes with the cowl cover) and I can't find a used one, not even one to borrow to duplicate! If anyone has one I would like to borrow it so I can replicate it. The twin cup reservoirs are hidden under a cover, the single reservoir in 79 up is exposed (another bean counter move).

    Good day Paul,

    Excellent work... as always!

As for more Fuse Blocks... they are on my list of things to do :), however, I am awaiting the delivery status of the block material as well as my machinist's schedule.

    Cheers,

    Sam

Number 19 is the cowl cover and just to the right of where the number 19 is pointing there is a small rectangular box looking cover with a single knob on top. Thats the cover I need which doesn't have a separate part number from the cowl cover itself.

And if you find one, I need 3!
