Oh bugger, another Aussie icon died today. Doc passed away today from the brain tumour he'd been fighting for some time. I was incredibly fortunate to see the Angels live at Bryant's Manlyvale in the late 70's. The performance must have been one of the first for AIEGSYFA. Needless,it brought the house down.
Just saw this myself. Big, big fan of The Angels and just bought Doc's acoustic album after watching him on Australian Story the other week. RIP.
Had a beer with him at the Marble Bar (Hilton ?) in Sydney many years ago (84 I think), seemed a nice bloke I didn't recognise him but my mate (IBM exec)was a big Angels fan and went over and asked if he could buy him a drink
Ok, so you're Australian, but you don't drink and you've never heard of Doc Neeson? I'm not a fan of The Angels, but by any measure he was a legend and by all accounts a true gentleman. I think it's time to hand your passport in...
Well he said "he'll never see your face again". Very sad news. R.I.P. Doc. Saw The Angels in Coffs Harbour in around 1988. Brilliant and the crowd went right off.
Special presentation of the Angels and Doc Neeson on RAGE this morning. On right now. PeePee, if you go down to the television room of your pensioner's club you will be able to acquaint yourself with whom Doc Neeson was.
