Danica Patrick to Formula One with Gene Haas? Don't rule it out | FOX Sports on MSN

what a great article....see also: total joke!

she has never been anything more than a mid-pack racer albeit with the best equipment that sponsors could buy. she has shown the ability to bring big dollars wherever she lands however.

she could seemingly buy a ride in f1 and quickly salt away her legacy as one of the greatest racers the US of A has ever turned out.

I nearly choked on my coffee as I wrote that:)

at any rate...the article should provide for some good chum in the waters:)

    She's way to old now.

There are better Americans that are good for F1. Conor Daly and Alexander Rossi are prime candidates IMO. They've been doing well in Europe considering :).

Danica needs to go sell some auto supplies. She is not F1 caliber. Her best work has never been on the track at all.

Yup. And on top of this there is zero possible way should would be approved for a super license. She's not even close to meeting the requirements and ain't no way she will be voted in unanimously either. No way. Haas is an idiot for even saying this and I now hope he bankrupts himself immediately so we don't have to suffer his foolish comments for long. What a moron

his other comment about being profitable in 3 years or whatever fantasy world struck me as odd as well. Profitable in F1 means finding a way of spending not so much money but getting at least the odd point scoring position so you attract large enough sponsors and get a decent enough slice of the F1 monies.

It took Marussia 4 years and over 260 million USD to score 2 points. In all these years they've had at least 1 competent driver...

Maybe being American they'll have a slightly easier way at attracting a big money sponsor (coke, subways, Mcdonalds or whatever), but it was still odd.

Taking a more sensible approach to this:

Haas did not come out with statement out of the blue, he was asked a specific question about Danica Patrick, to which he gave an answer.

As for his answer, the fact of the matter is, like her or not, rate her or not, were she to drive for the Haas F1 team, she would draw in a lot of much needed media attention for the team (and far more than any of the other names being quoted in this thread!).

As I've previously stated in other threads concerning Danica Patrick, there are plenty of male drivers who have failed to achieve anything like Patrick's modest achievements but there doesn't seem to be the same need to slag them off as much as there seems to be when it comes to Patrick! - Funny that!

Aas for those doing the slagging off: How's your racing career going? ;)

On the other hand there are no male drivers still racing and getting paid after all these years with her record.

Things are going to pick up.
Doctor said the breast implants are ready for installation next week.
Might look weird but whatever works.

Danica would have to be a number two just for ratings and ticket sales. Otherwise no.

From a marketing and PR point of view, it would be a good move for Haas to have
Danica on as a test driver (or Friday driver). It is not as far of a stretch to imagine it
happening as having Danica on the team, even as a test driver would bring a lot of
    attention to the deal.

They'd certainly get a lot more media than Marussia or Caterham who's drivers get so
little attention, one may barely describe them.

Will it happen? Seems unlikely but stranger things have happened. In the bigger picture,
perhaps Haas ought to be concentrating more on getting an actual team of designers, engineers,
crew, sponsors, etc. together before he goes off selecting drivers.

Some of you are missing my point: she does not and cannot qualify for a superlicense. She doesn't come close. For Haas to even mention her name is foolish because she doesn't even qualify. However, she would be good media for the team IF she qualified.

Google superlicense requirements. She has zero mileage in an F1 car, she's not won a GP2, formula 2, formula 3 championship nor finished well in any, nor has she finished top 4 in points in the Indy car series as is required, so I don't see any way how she would be unanimously voted in. It's not easy getting that license, and she's a liability. Susie Wolff I'm certain would drive rings around her anyway.

Does Haas think F1 includes oval tracks? ;)

Remember all those road course races, with DP and Duno trailing the field?

Besides, Sauber is getting the Swiss Miss. :p

I think some of yall are reading too much into Haas' comments.

I don't think he believed what he was saying, and he almost seemed caught off guard by the question. Why would Haas' blast Danica? He would get worse press if he immediately put the kabash on the notion.

Seriously... what do you want the guy to do... be completely honest? Start laughing? He gave a politically correct answer to a question you just know someone would just have to ask.

I don't believe there is anyone is racing who really believes that Danica is top tier at anything. She's more of an ambassador and cash register and that's okay too. I personally started disliking her more the past couple of years when she started on the whole "stop treating me as a sex symbol and more like driver." If you want to earn extra cash by prancing around in your bikini for photo shoots and heighten your profile by doing sexualized stuff, that's fine... just don't cry about it when that's what you're noticed for.

She's really made a joke out of herself actually.

I have this horrible visualization of an F1 themed version of the wreckingball video with Danica in it and as soon as she appears in view on her swinging ball, she gets sideswiped by Maldonado and the video comes to an abrupt halt.
