No, McLaren has an exclusive deal for 2015. Maybe in 2016, but I doubt that Ron Dennis would like to see Honda engines in any car that could be a rival for them.

Bad news for RB: Adrian Newey very likely will take a timeout from F1 after season.

    Well, who knows?

    Interesting.

I don't know how big his fortune is, but must be pretty big if he says no to 30 mil and will start drawing boats for a bit of fun.

It is said that he even denied the possibility to collaborate with the Ferrari for the LMP1 program in 2015.

Ferrari need to develop their own engineering talent, they have the $ and resources.

Newey has a less direct position going forward which I'm sure leaves him with more time for other things. Won't be good in the long run.

Half a Newey is better than none.

Biggest plus for RB is that it keeps him out of a competitor's team.

    Exactly!

Red Bull will fund his boat designing hobby and if they hit any problems with their F1 car then Newey will lend a hand by taking a look at the design.

At the same time, he won't be available to work for any other team against Red Bull.

Exactly right, Bas. I've been away for a week. Before I left I wrote an acquaintance of mine who was a top English F1 engineer about the possibility of Ferrari hiring Adrian Newey. Newey, Ross Brawn and all of the English F1 'old timers' are all good friends of his. He had told me years ago that in the mid-1980s he had declined an invitation by Ferrari to join the team in Maranello. Didn't want to leave his (English) team and live in Italy. Equally important, he was aware of the interference of Luca in the operation and functioning of the entire F1 team. Just back and his answering email describes the environment at Scuderia Ferrari substantially thus:

It was very difficult to get things the way they needed to be at Ferrari since the internal beliefs were so very wrong. At the end of Ross Brawn's last sabbatical the two main reasons he did not return to Ferrari was that some of these difficult changes had been reversed and that Luca was interfering again. The most important and most difficult task Jean Todt performed was keeping Luca at arm's length and stopping him changing everything on a day to day basis on the whim of a journalist he had just talked to on the phone.

My earlier post about Luca's intelligence was entirely off-base. Of course he is an extremely intelligent man. Unfortunately for Scuderia Ferrari he apparently believes too implicitly in his own supreme intelligence and may be a micro-manager. His selection of Mattiacci as team principal very ominously confirms this view and signals that a Luca yes-man is in charge. I'd not be at all surprised to see Fernando seek to terminate his contract early. Altogether an extremely discouraging portent.

Thank you :). More or less how I thought LdM was going things. Thanks for the confirmation and very interesting :).
Lets hope so. Didn't read the links but do know that Alonso is starting the Le Mans this year.

I love Ferrari's cars, but loathe the way they have run their f1 team lately. I was a fan until Schu retired. Now ferrari are where Merc were 4 years ago, minus Ross Brawn. I like that Mattiacci was brought in as I hope his business sense would be enough to give LdM a proper whack in the head. That said, I have faith in 2015 for the Tifosi.
