Sometimes taking yourself and team-mate out is penalty enough IMO.

But I wont be sad when Dads money runs out.
Time for someone else that might show real talent.

a lot of people are ahead of Kimi in the championship. But someone else has to start the "Kimi Sucks"-thread....

anyway, somehow Button got by Bottas, Alonso and Hulkenberg in 1 or 2 laps. That should make for some nice footage.

Stewards decided that Perez was at fault and gave him a five place grid penalty for the next race in Austria.

Take another look. Vettel didn't turn in at his normal point, presumably because he looked in his left mirror and saw an out of control car rapidly overtaking on his left. This slight delay was enough to let Massa fly by. You can see Vettel carry his turn so wide that he actually touched the grass on the outside but he kept on going to a well deserved third.

It's hard to tell for sure, but if he had he turned in normally, Massa would have either hit Vettel too or come VERY close.

Yes, luck was involved but it wasn't pure luck. Vettel didn't just sit there watching the show.

    It should indeed -

"We were lucky with some DNFs at the end to pick up some points but sixth and tenth is too little for us," says Ferrari's Fernando Alonso, who finished sixth. "Jenson took the opportunity at the end with one of his banzai moves to gain two places."

    Best, Sammy

    Something seems suspicious to me.

Both MB cars suffered exactly the same ERS failure at exactly the same time. Too much of a coincidence. Something must have failed which is common to both cars and that something must have been in the pits. But its against regulations for the cars systems to be controlled from the pits.....

The brake issues were simply a result of the mechanical brakes having to do all the work as ERS was not providing any braking assistance.

I did indeed (post 559) and noted therein that I was wrong - The video Bas posted certainly suggests he saw him coming by :)eek:!) and jinked a little right. Good for him & my bad! ;)

Newey appears to be an excellent remote ECU hacker ;).

Their control units failed, which then shut down individual systems, in this case being the ERS.
I find it amazing he even looked in his mirrors and still had the ability to dodge a Martini cocktail being launched at him at ~290kmh.

At exactly the same time, within seconds, after running faultlessly throughout the whole season. No way thats a coincidence. I can see other teams questioning whats going on there.

    Oh Yeah that guy !
I think they mentioned him once, possibly twice, in the US TV feed.

About a quarter of the race was watching Massa waiting to pounce...

    yep...

    any lap now...

    ready to pounce...

Oh yeah Ricardo just passed Nico for the lead...
    Now back to Massa..

Got yer tin foil hat handy?! ;)

This goes to show just how identical the cars actually are - I'm pretty sure the suckers just overheated their brains, and its no surprise at all that happened at the same time to both.

Otherwise, you're suggesting that (presumably?) Bernie orchestrated it all in order to give us a decent race?

Two way telemetry was banned way back - Best they can do now is ask the jockey to mess with their settings, and it seems Nico did a better there than MerHam.....

    Cheers,
    Ian

    Those mirrors are tiny.
There is no way he saw what was happening back around the beginning of the turn in their field of view when he was at the exit.
Watch his steering wheel and helmet angles.
All avoidance actions were after the fact.
Vettel is great but not omniscient.
    Pure stupid luck. Whatever works.
