Why I'm not surprised about these findings?
Against all rumors, Ferrari masters his business. ;)

Yes, I really like the California T, a great car, fits perfectly in the Ferrari product portfolio.

Thank you very much for this report SAT4RE.

Viewed in that light, I would reconsider your purchase given the fact that it's only a hair faster after 30 years! Just kidding. ;-)

You're welcome, Redcaruser. I was simply pointing-out the points from the article that interested me. I, too, think Ferrari has done a superb job with this rendition of the California, and it definitely fills its niche, perfectly.

It just goes to show how much ahead of its time the F40 was, However, this car is faster than i can drive :)

    +1.

John, good luck with the dealer configurator. Ferrari really ought to spend some money on their second rate configurator so that the colours are just slightly representative, especially in the greys. Ferro looks terrible on the configurator but the actual sample looks great.

It is really good to know they have actual paint samples. To be able to actually place a leather sample over the paint will really help make the choice. My Titanio has black interior with red stitching which works really well. The only other color I can think of that would suit it would be a two tone Black/Red combination. Black is not my favorite interior color, so I was considering that combo. My favorite interior is Cuoio. I really like Silverstone over Cuoio, but Silverstone is a little darker than what I am going for. Unless I leave the reservation and get a red... :)

Hopefully the visit with the dealer will answer these questions. I'll post my first set of specs when it gets closer.

    Thanks,
    John

Perhaps Ferrari SpA could simply record photos of certain completed cars at the factory, under various controlled lighting conditions (e.g. sunny/overcast/dull/sunset/evening/incandescent/fluorescent/neon lighting) to provide a better sense of their appearance.

Providing a "lighting booth" at dealer showrooms that use the same lights for customers to view actual colour samples of the same exteriors and interiors depicted in the photos would also add a further dimension to enhance the configuration process.

That would be really helpful. To have the cars in the same light and position for each color would make it much easier. Just like listening to various guitars playing the same licks with the same microphones and the same recording conditions lets a person really hear the distinctive tones of each one in reference to the others. Maybe someday they will do something go like this...

I will certainly miss the sound of my GTC Sport when i trade it for a T. there is NOTHING that sounds as beautiful as a Maserati. Having said that , cannot wait until i get my T !

Maserati sound is more "pure" maybe because it have smaller or different turbines than Ferrari

I am busy making recordings of my '12 Cali to play while I drive my T when that happens. :D I am doing the same with Formula 1 races. I play last year's recorded races on one TV while watching the current races with the sound off. Real F1 is back at my house :D

Anyone else finding it odd that hundreds of journalists have access to the cars over the next few weeks but only two YouTube videos have been released? Also there were a slew of write-ups and now silence again. Does Ferrari control that too?

There is always an embargo in place when manufacturers give the media access to something new. This is common practice throughout the industry. For instance, there was a two week embargo in place when McLaren had the journos drive the 650S.

I understand the difference between the two chrome grill options, one has chrome only horizontal, and the other has egg crate with chrome both horizontal and vertical. On the option that only has chrome horizontal, is there still the black vertical pieces, or are those removed?

I've seen two Calis side by side, one with the leading edge chrome like mine and one with the entire thing chrome ... the entire thing is too much chrome.

+1. It's a bit like fashion. A few years ago, the chrome grills would be standard and they'd be charging extra for an all black grill.

There was a post not too long ago that had a picture of two Cali T's, a red one with both the horizontal and vertical chrome grill and a blue one with the horizontal chrome grill.

If someone was so kind as to redirect me that post, I will greatly appreciate it. Thank you.
