Upgraded to a 360

Very exciting and congrats! A pretty big leap in technology IMHO..

 

It could have been overfilled and that is what you're seeing. Yes check the seal on the cap too. Correct level is not per the owners handbook but should be 50mm above the screen in the reservoir. I made a nifty little gauge stick with a mark on one end where the F1 fluid level should be and a mark on the other where the coolant level should be. Makes checking levels a breeze.

BTW if you did a CarFax it should show all the dealers it may have been through and you could call up and request copies of the service records.

 

Overfilling is the likely culprit. Can happen if the fluid is filled after the driver's door is opened - which causes the F1 pump to run, priming the system and reducting the fluid level in the reservoir. When the car is turned off and te fluid is returned to the reservoir, you will get an over fill. When I purchased my 360, the mechanic had overfilled the reervoir and I got a nice puddle of hydraulic fluid on my garage floor.

Take a turkey baster and remove a little bit of the fluid.

You aren't likely to see a leak by opening the door. The oil expands massively when hot, and that is when it is likely to be leaking from the overflow orrifice in the cap. It is also not likely JUST to be overfilled if there are pressure issues.

Obviously, nobody here has seen any SD2 parameters relating to your issue, so this is purely subjective, but it does sound like a loose actuator bleed screw (there are three and they can only be accessed by removal) on the actuator...

Make sure your mechanic understands the Ferrari 360, if not find another one with the proper tools, SD2 etc.

I started with a 308QV for about 3 years then moved to a 348 Spider for 2 years and about a year ago moved to a 04 360 F1 a lot like yours,
Just a great car.
Sort everything out and you should be good. I know the F1 pump is the same as a Maserati and it can be had for about 400.00.

Those are two great looking cars! Amazing how each car represents a different eras style and tastes but yet they both still look good even in an era for which they were never designed. They are two totally unique and very different shapes with the similar goal of exciting ones senses but they about it with totally different executions!

OK, just read this slow....Your new 360 has 79 fuses and/or relays in her IIRC.

Good overnight charge, sounds good. I hope you are talking about on a trickle charger. Yes? Don't try and charge the battery in the car! Follow all the proper steps when you bring her back to life and you should be on the right path.

 

A trickle charger wont charge a dead battery so you will need to recharge your battery using a dedicated battery charger and charge it overnight.

I think the use of trickle chargers can be a problem if left on too long as they could over charge. Get a good (CTEK) battery maintainer as it monitors the voltage and adjust accordingly until the battery is fully charged when it goes into sleep mode until the voltage drops.

If it's not too late, take it back. They have put in an ordinary (read cheap) wet cell battery (flooded lead acid) like the one Dad had in his 53 Chevrolet.

For the 360, Ferrari specifies a VRLA type battery ONLY, most often represented by an AGM (absorbed gas mat) battery. If you like Interstate, I believe their MT7 AGM is correct for your car. It costs roughly two and a half times as much as the battery you have, but it won't leak acid or dangerous gas. Remember, the battery is in the passenger compartment and your car is aluminum, so you don't want dangerous gas or corrosive acid, or at least I don't.

Nearly everything in the owners manual is good advice, including the battery specifications. Take your owners manual to the dealer and point out that he's put in a potentially damaging battery in your car contrary to the owners manual specification.

If you look around you can find photographs of Ferrari battery boxes all corroded by using exactly the kind of battery you have. Just because a battery fits in the box and has a lot of cranking power doesn't mean it's appropriate.
