THOUGHTS ON 599 GTO VALUES

Larry- I doubt they will drop much unless the current Ferrari and collector car boom/bubble bursts. Look at what has happened to the SA Aperta, now pushing $1M.

 

From what I hear about its performance and have seen on video....buy it to drive it...as its supposedly awesome....AND...it will gain in value. Win-win situation!

 

When the F12b starts to drop I think the 599 GTO will too drop ~50-100K. When the F12b ''Scuderia Stradale Omologato'' will come out it'll stay on it's value it is at that point for 7-10 years before it starts going up a la Challenge Stradale (a car now fetching serious money in the UK and slowly creeping up in Europe).

So in short, I think a small drop will happen before it starts going up. Though it is a bit hard to tell now with values of some cars shooting through the stratosphere, look at the 911 GT3 RS 4.0!

I think it will hold steady. It has it's own cult following and would be a great car to own.

 

I don't see GTO prices going down. Have been following the prices in Europe and, if anything, I suspect values will rise over the coming years.

 

We shall see. I'm mostly basing my expectation on what Stradale/Scuderia prices have been doing in the UK/Europe.

 

Also possible. It entirely deserves it in any case; and perhaps the Challenge Stradale was ''ahead of it's time'' regarding values.

 

Don't forget the 599 GTO is much rarer than a Stradale and a Scuderia. Since they have held their value despite the F12 intro, I don't see them going down if the economy stays the same (or improves).

With the current market for special cars simply spiraling out of control (values flying up) it's a bit of anyone's guess.

Either way...buy one today to keep and you won't lose out

 

I don't see the prices dropping much if at all and long term they may be some appreciation but that's all forgotten when you have that V12 screaming at you and your senses are bombarded by the experience the GTO offers.

 

How would GTO prices be affected when an F12M model is released? I can see it go either way, but don't know enough about recent price trends to even make an educated guess.
The recent Aperta appreciation seemed to surprise many.

 

I highly recco buying one!! I was fortunate to push her hard around the track this weekend but was cut short as the ECU was acting up so over to the shop for full diagnoses.

Pure track bliss though!!

Which one do you like more? Can you find the GTO spec'd the way you like? Both cars are utterly spectacular. I like the relative limited production numbers of the GTO and appreciate the moniker it carries. There are several GTOs for sale in the US right now. Most are still asking more than list although some are close. Not sure what they are letting them go for though. The more time you perseverate on which one to buy the less time you are enjoying it!! In this scenario I would without question go for the GTO, the thrills it can deliver are to me unique. The F12 is going to take a depreciation knock, one I don't think the GTO will ever take by virtue of the aggressive nature of the package and the uniqueness of the driving experience.

 

They are rare birds in the US. Only like 125 or so made it over. So the rarity will be there and like someone mentioned, there's a bit of a cult following on them.

 

+1. Definitely the GTO over the F12. It is a very special car. Just the name alone speaks for itself. Got mine at similar time as yours and can not wait to take it to the track.

 

I agree with you. Even if they dropped slightly that drop would only be temporary.

Car prices are going insane. I just checked Carrera GT prices for the first time in a while and they're way more expensive than the last time I checked. And that's not a super low production car.

I know this might sound crazy but I really do consider strategic car buying as a way to invest. I've never been a big fan of stocks or bonds and I have enough real estate for now. Once I'm happy with my stable of cars to drive I will save up to buy cars for investment purposes.

 

As one of the first owners of a 599 GTO and having driven mine almost 19,000 kms now (both on the track and off the track) I can only recommend you to go with the GTO. It is a remarkable Ferrari that will make your hair stand up every time you drive it. Pure emotion, adrenaline and always rewarding. A driver's car where everything just seems to "come together". As for it's value: Today the car is loved by true Ferrari passionates because of it's overall quality and the sensation it brings. With what the car has already given me (and will continue to give me) it's value has gone up as you can't put a price on that.

Buy the GTO in the first place for the pleasure it will give you. Don't worry too much about future values although I do believe that it will go up over time but let that not be the driver for your decision. While the F12 is a remarkable car … the GTO is in a different league.

 

Out of curiosity, where you at the FCA nationals with it? There was a yellow GTO setting the track on fire on Friday. I could only see the straight from my vantage point, but it was the fastest thing i saw all day. Damn impressive stuff.
