Dad's friend had one...'58. But I'm looking at the 57 or 58 Dodge next to it... and the DeSoto (or Chrysler) of the same vintage that bookend it.
What do ya'll think of this....Supposedly hits showrooms this Fall.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
I hate the current Mercedes design philosophy, but if it comes in an AMG version I could look past the ugly exterior
well it's not simple and clean IMO; Bruno Sacco's designs were clean. these are too Japanese. but if it's working for them, cool.
I agree they are anything but simple of the 4 German car companies they seem to be the only one's trying to break away from everyone else & for that I do give them credit.....even if their current crop of cars don't appeal to the 'mature' generation
This was an incredible coincidence today. I was out of town yesterday, and left my Audi S5 at the airport. On returning this morning, a BMW wagon had parked next to me. Not just any BMW wagon, though... it was the one that got away! Back in 2001, I came this close -> <- to buying a 1995 E34 BMW 540iT, the Touring wagon, European spec with manual transmission. It was Tecno-Violet, with gray velour interior, sport suspension with BBS mesh wheels, and the 4.0 V8. It had been imported from Germany in 1999 to Canada by the original owner, and somehow he had managed to register the Euro spec car (it was definitely not legal back then). Anyway, I finally passed on the car, due to a high price, no AWD on what would have been our primary family hauler and ski vehicle, and worries about the old Nikasil engine block from the era when BMW was replacing a bunch of them on a hidden extended warranty, which would not have applied to this gray market import. Fast forward 13 years, and that same 95 540iT Euro-spec Tecno-Violet on gray velour manual trans BBS mesh wagon was parked beside me! There would definitely have only been one of these around... It was in amazing shape, looked pretty original. I was contemplating whether I regretted not buying it back then, as we'd bought a new Audi allroad instead, followed by a 2007 Audi S4 Avant manual. I think the S4 Avant was easily a better, more fun car than the BMW would have been, especially for our winter requirements. The allroad was a very, very nice car, but even with manual trans would not have been as fun as the 540iT would have been. It was nice to see it still around, and in great condition. Small world! I was close-ish to buying a 540i wagon imported from Germany in, if not the same color, a very similar color. The car was a 2003. I ended up passing because it was not AWD and was an auto... Beautiful car and if comes around again I might grab it and swap in a manual. Ended up with the B7 S4 MT also and don't see myself getting rid of it anytime soon. 30k miles in the first year of ownership and I'm smitten.
I'll say. More chrome than an entire neighborhood of Rappers. When designers were men and boardrooms were not afraid of a styling statement.
I know the US Top Gear is goofy compared to the original UK version, but the most recent episode was pretty decent, 'Cool Cars for Grownups' mainly because there is lots of Mercedes E63 WAGON love in it. Check it out.... Cool Cars for Grownups Full Episode - Top Gear - HISTORY.com
Spotted this 1957 Buick wagon at the Goodguys Car Show the other day . Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Spotted auf dem strasse in Deutschland. Suspension would never work in Houston but I want so bad anyway. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Good story! Have those same bbs wheels on our 99 528. Lawyer at my office drives a lovely 94ish 535 every day, such a classy/sporty car. I really want a BMW wagon someday, either an E39 or newer 3 series, when our E39 retires. For everyday driving nothing tops a Beemer IMO.
lol check out this video....CJ Wilson names the CTS-V Wagon with a manual as one of his favorites (and he owns a CGT, McLaren P1, and a racing team!) [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOlXlt7L0T4]CJ Wilson On Cars, Racing, and Baseball - YouTube[/ame]
