The other SP's have had trademark protection filed.

    Awesome car!

Looking at its dropping window lines and some other details, to me it seems to be a modern interpretation of the 330 TRI/LM... Maybe the TRS derived from the TRI!?

The car pictured looks like a mockup so I doubt it has a VIN.

Looks great! I would imagine there is room in the price to cover the cost of trademark if that is what Ferrari wants to do.

I love it- "Thats Real Special" :)

I think the rear looks a bit messy, but it's an interesting design.

I like the SP America more.

Someone posted the pictures and story in the LaF Review or Picture thread, can't remember which one.

What doesn't make sense is that one would spend $4.2M to save money on fuel. I suppose the driver, who'd probably just put 300 miles per year on the vehicle, could feel good about not using fossil fuels. HAHA! Doh!!!

    What?

Ferrari doesn't use KERS to primarily save fuel (hence why LaF doesn't have an EV-mode like the P1 and 918). They use it to increase performance. The power to weight ratio of the KERS system in LaF is 1/1, and it allows them to optimise the performance of the V12 for power delivery in the upper rev range whilst low-end torque is delivered instantly from the KERS system.

It does not have the Kers, this is a stupid and illogical rumor because the cost of development. Ferrari never changes the mechanical configuration of the on-off but just the Interior and exterior design. Another thing I think F12 TRS mean F12 Testarossa spider.

Clever thinking with regards to the name - but I would not doubt the words of Marcel Massini and Toolfan. Perhaps there is a confusion between the F12 TRS name and the car pictured?

It's likely that the F12 KERS is not a one-off but a limited production model like the Aperta. With regards to changing the mechanical configuration of an SP one-off, Ferrari will do it if you pay them enough.

    Good point!

Also if we look back at the history of front V-12 open top versions; there was the 550 and Barchetta, 575 and Superamerica, 599 and Aperta.

All of these open top/convertible versions were produced in moderate numbers, several hundreds (400-599), and there wasn't any significant change in the engine. A slight increase in power but nothing like adding a hybrid or front wheel drive.

So if the F12 TRS is following in the same product path, then it should be produced in the same kind of numbers with essentially the same engine as its parent the F12 with a small bump in HP but no hybrid.

Funny thing I remember talking to a guy many months ago who claimed he had a friend who was asked by his dealer (bringing forward news from the factory) if he was interested in a "limited-run special edition model based on the F12" with the price tag being at around $4M... His friend was a pretty serious collector.

Wonder if the TRS or car pictured is the one they asked him about.

Seems strange that they would charge triple the price of a LaF for a car that is supposedly being built to satisfy owners who were turned down for LaFerraris.

Well, Ferrari is Ferrari and those that could afford a $1M car can probably afford a $4M car too if they want it. Merely speculating. There has been no inclination from any reputable sources that a $4M limited edition special is the novelty LdM has on his mind.

Btw, I found the conversation I had with the guy in February. A few details I'd mixed up. I do not know this guy personally and cannot verify the validity on any of his claims.

    - He told me his friend has an Enzo, F12, FF, 458 Spider, Bugatti Veyron(s) "etc." and has a LaFerrari on order. (showed me pictures)

    - His friend was offered a car from Ferrari. One of a 6 model run.

    - He says his friend showed him a picture (3d concept art) and it has a targa top that's "red and black". (I then showed him a picture of one of the SP30 drawings and he said and I quote "Ah yes that looks pretty similar except with a targa top.")

    - The price from Ferrari was $2.5M USD.

    - His friend was told that all 6 cars were already produced at the time he was called up. (I think some details may have been lost or skewed in translation/on the phone with regards to this)

Again I reiterate I do not know this guy personally so don't treat this as anything other than a rumour.
