Looking good Bart, as usual, and I like the idea of sticking LED-lights in the positioning lights'

Also like the idea of a trident on the lower grille, should have been there in the first place. Too bad it is partially obscured by the license-plate, which reminds me, I have to apply for permission to mount a small one :)

    Best,

    Jack.

    Hi Jack,

The design of the trident I took from the Boomerang, a little more stylistic, angular and broader. So, it is actually not obsured by my license plate.

The idea came up when a guy at the traffic lights thought I was driving a Pontiac Fiero, that was just a touch too much for my ego...:)

I agree with you, the K should have proudly carried a Tridente at the front from the beginning.

These positioning lights also do a great job giving a light signal, they are remarkably bright.
(I switch them on with the middle console light switch whereby I put the stalk switch on "positioning lights only" position.)

    Ciao,

    Bart

    Hi all,
Anybody has a good address for rebuilding the hydraulic lamp lifters + the associated dash switch? They are leaking on both Khamsin and Bora... I am located in Belgium
    Thanks!

Try this absolute gentleman Maurice Laporte. Located in New Zealand but he has a quick turnaround.
He rebuilt my Headlight switch for my Merak and I am just about to send him my cylinders for my Bora together with the seat /pedal adjustment switch.

    Hi Tom,

I had the leakage coming from the line connections and repaired them myself. Getting the head light switch out is a bit of a backbone twister... If not a handy man yourself:
Give the Postert brothers (Citroën dealers in Oberhausen) a try (Gabelstraße 44 Oberhausen, Germany +49 208 625400), together they own 4 Khamsin's of which one converted to injection and over 400hp! The know everything about LHM and even have Khamsin's from Scandinavia in for maintenance.

    Success,

    Bart

    Hi Tom,
I can also supply a recommendation of someone I have found and used very recently. He is based in south east England and is a classic Citroen specialist so knows the LHM system in it entirety- although within a different platform.
I researched whom I would want to look after this system as a Maserati specialist would not necessarily know this system first hand. The specialist I have found researched the model and I had the system completely overhauled.

    Khamsinisti,

I am looking for the Bosch reference number of the Khamsin distributor cap. Mine reads D231005142 but is aparently not a Bosch number!
(The rotor reads 1234332177 and is a Bosch number. The Ghibli cap is dimensionally different.)

Can anybody provide the Bosch number?

    Thx in advance.

    Ciao,

    Bart

    Doug,

Thx, I just checked with the Bosch service and this is the one and even more important: Available from stock! Used on Khamsin, late Ghibli's, Mexico and Indy.

Well, that's probably a whole lot better priced than the 2 4-cylinder Marelli caps and rotors for a Ferrari 308! Theu look like Fiat 127 items, but are Ferrari-only, which never made sense to me.

    Best,

    Jack.

After many phonecalls and months of waiting, I will finally have my l/h cylinder head back today :)
The only thing that was wrong with it in the end was, that the exhaust valve-guide of no. 7 cylinder had completely worn out. The rest is like new (63.000 kms) and no other work was needed, but I did ask the shop to clean up the mating-surface, as the fire-ring of the head gasket had left a visible mark. One could not even feel it with a fingernail, but I'm rather safe than sorry.
Chasing after some cans of crinkle-paint, very hard to find here, but the car will run again before too long.

    At long last.

    Best,

    Jack.

    @ Mike: Will do :)

    @ Bob:

Indeed very odd Bob, if it were an intake guide I could understand but not an exhaust.

There are 2 possibilities, reason I took the head off was because the valve had 0 clearance, and upon removing the follower I found the shim sitting skew in the retainer.
    1) There was a manufacturing or material fault,
    2) The shim was placed wrong at a valve adjustment, and the load on the guide was no longer vertical.

Most probable is 1), the valvestem got space to move around and shed the shim. 2) would IMO have caused the bucket to shatter, as the load would have been concentrated on the efge of the shim.

The valve itself was perfect, and somehow the problem did not cause the valve to meet with the piston. Wow, lucky!

Fetching some cans of crinkle-paint today (VHT) and I can carry on.

    Best,

    Jack.
