I noticed that RockAuto carries some Ferrari parts for the 348. Where is the biggest source to get 348 parts. Particularly brake rotors, wheel bearings, pads, etc. I would say more of the routine items other than the major service. I haven't been able to find anything other than upgraded rotors. Do they not make stock rotors anymore anywhere? Everywhere I look, it's $1,000 minimum plus the pads. Just trying to see what other options are out there. It's not the price just more or less you have to upgrade or get custom ones to replace them?

Another question. The car we are looking at is a 1990 TS. It had the major service done actually twice as the previous time it was done it had an issue with the cam cover coming off, so in the midst they pulled the motor and did the major service again. Car has 22,000 miles on it and the service was done in 2008. The owner has put around 6,000 miles on the car since it was done. I would assume the major service should be good for at least another 20,000 miles. I appreciate any help.

    Thanks guys!

Your going to get lots of opinions on this. Take them all with a grain of salt.

I'll go first with my own personal facts on my last major service interval: 14 years and 11000 miles. All parts (bearings, belts, etc.) inspected to be in good condition when replaced.

Service intervals are 5 years for that kind of use. It needs it now. Rotors are hard to find for stock. They come up on eBay once in a while and we horders just scoop them up. You probably won't need new ones anyway. I am still on the original at 46K miles.

I would think the major service will be good for a while. Can you explain why you think the service is needed now with only 6,000 miles put on? As bosshog8 said, a lot of people will have mixed opinions on this and I get that. I understand wanting to keep everything perfect, but in some aspects I would think an interference motor with a timing belt could go 10,000-20,000 miles easily. Just wanting some more insight on that.

Its not the mileage, it's the age. The rubber in the timing belt gets old and cracks. Lack of use is not good. Also the tensioners need to be checked if you have stock versus Hill bearings. I had 6k and 6 years on mine and they were toast. Happens.

Not sure about that given the age and lack of use/heat cycling, but I suppose this and you could also throw a tooth. Nevertheless, for whichever of these reasons and more, do the major now. You will sleep better and relax when you bury the pedal.

I was referring to what Ernie has posted after waiting 9 years.

He said the belts were in great shape (it was a bearing and he waterpump that were about to fail), however the belt did stretch and cause the timing to be off a few degrees.
