Still in Maranello. Had 3 surreal ( read glorious) hours with the Tailor Made rep and designer yesterday afternoon. Chose Rosso Bordeaux exterior and special upgraded Cotto ( bit darker brown with a reddish hue) Paltrona Frau leather. Contrasting Cotto and Nero full leather interior with Cotto diamond stitched rear bench and upgraded thicker black carpets with Cotto piping. Kept LEDs on the wheel but no carbon at all in the interior ( except for the backs of the racing seats). All the interior bits will be silver painted aluminum. Steering wheel upper and lower areas Cotto with Nero leather for the hand grips. My 12 year old helped as did my wife. I think having their buy-in will be special, particularly when the wife sees the sticker :-; can't wait to see the renderings.

I suppose I would post on this thread sooner or later (should have been sooner :))

I love the spec on your car. There only two things I would do differently… yellow calipers instead of black (yellow is a "racing" colour and IMO also goes better with the rest of your spec). Black calipers sort of disappear while "coloured" calipers draw attention to the huge CCM rotors. They show off the car.

The other thing I would (have attempted to) do is the trunk liner - to full leather (cuoio). I didn't do this in my car and I truly, truly regret it. I didn't know it would have been an available option. Perhaps my salesman wanted to avoid calling 911 when I faint after learning the up-charge or perhaps the added time to build the car and perhaps I would have gone with it in spite of the downsides. Regardless, I think full-leather trunks/luggage compartments really complete these cars.

FWIW… for the Nth time, the full cuoio dash does not introduce any more glare than other colours of dash.

Glare is not from the colour - it's from THE REFLECTIVE TEXTURE of the material. A grainy texture will catch light and reflect off any colour of material. The only time the colour of the material makes any difference is on a very bright but completely cloudy day and cuoio is already a medium-dark shade of leather so it's not like beige or crema. I've not had any issues with glare and I almost always drive top-down. If you are an experience photographer you will readily know and understand this concept - think polarizing filter.

Black steering wheel and dash look absolutely down-market and uninspired in a GT with a coloured interior. Lighter coloured interiors do require more personal care but that is also a reflection of the owner's respect for the car. I also ditched the LEDs partly because I don't need them while black steering wheels ruin the colour scheme… and again I wasn't aware LEDs are apparently available in coloured leather. I might have gone with that just to complete the package.

Someone mentioned the fragile floor mats. Yes, they will not last if you drive the car - I swapped mine out soon after picking up my car, for leather mats from Exoticare. Dirt and constant use have not seemed to bother them (see 2nd photo).

I eagerly look forward to seeing your new car!

Just to back up my point about the surface texture of the dash material that is really at the heart of perceived glare, here's a shot of a F12 dash in black, the rest probably in cuoio. Light will reflect off a black dash just as much as off any other colour.

Here's an F12 interior comparison between a black upper dash in a cuoio interior against an Iroko(?) upper dash in a beige(?) interior.

Both the black and the Iroko upper dash reflect light to similar degrees.

I would also go for dark gray wheels! Upper dash in black would be better, but all cuoio look nice also!

As long as you wear Polarized Sunglasses then there is no glare

Doc458. When did you place your order? Mine went Red 10 on April 28th and was to be a July production. Got the email from Ferrari last monday with a picture of my car in the paint shop with the "primer" which I think is just a standard picture for all F12's with primer. My dealer told me my car went from Red 10 to Stage 50 as of last Monday.

Just trying to figure how far behind my car is from yours. Waiting for the next picture from Ferrari, thought I would get one a week at thing point.

    Thanks.

Actually, I think those are some kind of protective cover. I have standard mirrors.

I placed the order late April. Was 10 green till mid May. Not sure when it became red 10 but got a message from my dealer of it being status 30 on May 27th, Status 40 on June 3rd then status 50 on June 11th. Like you, I received the Ferrari email with the primer picture June 16th and the completed paint picture June 19th. The completed car picture was sent today. I think the Ferrari production emails are slightly delayed because I'm told my car is ready for shipment. I suspect you will be getting an update from them very soon. Perhaps our productions are a week apart?

    Cheers,

Juminjohn, my dealer called me today and said it shows my car has shipped. My guess is these pictures we get are about a week behind actual. I think this is an outstanding thing Ferrari is now doing. Set's them apart from others by sending these pictures.
