I am looking at a 2003 360 F-1 located out-of-state. It needs new clutch which will be done by dealer. Negotiation is under way. All these times, I was under the impression that 2002 and later models have updated ECUs. When I inquired at my local dealer, the service advisor said the earlier 2003 models may not have gotten the upgrades. Is this correct? (This is not what I read in our "360 FAQ/Buyer's Guide). I was quoted $2800 for the update, so, I want to make sure this issue is addressed before I take the plunge.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Supposedly cars before vin#124875 had the 1st gen unit (Forza) I think without the ability to manually adjust pis? Someone else here said the software got a big improvement after build #47115.

Don't trust me, I click my way through the gates.

Here is a good resource for information about the various changes to the 360 TCU and the applicable TCU serial numbers. I have a 2000 360, and the CU upgrade is at the top of my list.

Except it is not correct. The later TCUs were programmed for smoother more seamless shifting. The one introduced mid 2001 or so had the quickest most positive shifting.

Thank you guys. Thanks future328driver for the link. I am working out of town, so, I will read it when I get the chance.
The VIN # of the car is ZFFYU51A130133318. So Brian, does it have the updated one?
    Thank you.

I'd say the only way to find out conclusively is to look at it or read the version through the diagnostics. It may have been changed already either forwards or backwards!

There is no way to know without pulling the panel and looking. I personally probably replaced 50 under warranty. I suspect a few other guys did the same.

    Brian,
Would a CS TCU work in a 2000 360 without any modification under than reprograming the PIS? Trying to decide it I go with the CS TCU or the last version of the regular 360 TCU.
