It seems every year a super car is wrecked and or totaled by a Ferrari Tech on a "road test".

at least they had the plastic sheets to protect the seats.
"Er.. sorry about the bodywork sir, but looking on the bright side, the seats are like new!"

Actually I was serious. The Toronto one was all I had heard about. But then there is no suggestion he was in any way at fault and the other 2 examples you give are the same crash.

I count that as one and it was 3 years ago.

Those were just from the first page of results from google. Sorry about the mix up there, I saw the headline in £ not $ and didn't read the article to see there were the same event. Anyways it has happened other times where the mechanic has crashed a clients car. Wreckedexotices .com will be a good place to look for the others.

I'm just speculating but i don't think that P1 think dyno is entirely adequate either, but probably helps them reduce road tests to a minimum. As you suggest, damned if you do, damned if they dont. They work just off the i-95 too which is very convenient but that road is not fun to put it mildly. The trucks give me the willies the way they drive there. I note that the guys from Miller were entering the i95 northbound, in which case going against the peak hour traffic, although thats relative as the 95 can be busy and not nice in any direction at any time. I work a mile away from there.

It happens. Could be due to any number of things. It's insured, nobody got hurt, who really cares beyond that?

Any experts want to give us their informed opinion on how long to get it fixed and back on the road? If I owned it, that would be my ONLY concern once I found out nobody got hurt.

The F40 that was rebuilt by the garage monkey show was totaled in Houston by FoH tech during road test. Many other as noted by other posts.

FoH had nothing to do with the accident, I believe it was a new hire tech at Vintage Motorcars near the Hempstead Rd.

However, you help make my point. New hire tech driving an F40? Was Ferda still there? If yes, he should have been driving the F40, not the new guy.

Is there going to be another 'TV show' with this Enzo as the star... Had to be quite a big impact for the airbags to go off. Not a cheap repair at all

When I see things like this I often wonder "Why was it being driven / was the test drive needed?". I once took an M3 into a dealership that didn't see many of them - it needed a sticky door fixed. I specifically asked them not to drive it, but when I went back to pick it up it had an additional 20 miles on the clock.

If they had done some engine / transmission / suspension work, well fine, but I wonder what this Enzo was taken in for...

It wasn't a new tech, Ferda was driving. There is still much of that incident that hasn't been told.

The biggest lasting impact is the valuation of the car. It will likely never command top dollar so as an investment your return is reduced. If you have it to drive it, then maybe it makes no difference but I never feel as good knowing the car had been in an accident.

Wonder if it will even see the road again. After repair costs, loss of use, diminished value etc. the insurance company might total it, write a check, and wash their hands of further liability.

Maybe they can buff that out.
