Everytime I see this car that certain something stands out, it's the paint, the paint has very different sheen. For a modern metallic finish, the car has a very soft "glow" as opposed to the "glitter" you see nowadays on newly painted cars. I haven't seen it in person and it could just be my eyes, but is there something special about the formula?

Dustin Wetmore... maybe you can tell us something...???

Please post this. The only early picture I have is a B&W one from way back. I gather the car was just restored as in all my other pictures it is a dark red. Is the new paint like the original? Nice. I don't know why I mention this but I like the shoes he is wearing. Looks like nice driving leather with a good feel for the pedals. tongascrew

The new paint is period paint and color. The options for different colors was not that great and with the help of some of the best, we figured out the correct color to paint the car and what was period paint.

When the car was red, there were some mistakes with the body. The car has been in Italy undergoing restoration to original. The car has made it to Cavallino Classic as well as Amelia Island so far this year.

evnelson, I tried to PM you 3 times and I'm obviously computer challenged. This is the picture of Steve and I where we found 0145E and Steve purchased it. The rest of the parts were stored indoors near by.

    Great picture.

Is there a story behind the find?

I wonder if there are period photos to confirm it really looked like that originally. Ghia did a lot of fine tuning when building the production coupes and it would be really interesting to know what 0145E really looked like originally.

I agree. Even the front wheel arches today look suspect to me...

There are some unanswered questions regarding the transition between first and second series. 0121/S seems to have been a unique styling prototipo. Then two more 1st series cars followed - 0129/S and 0133/S.

The serial number of the first S.2 used for factory photos is still a mystery. I presume that this car got destroyed pretty quickly as I have never seen any further photos of it. My favorite theory is that this was 0139/E (listed as a Ghia by Raab!).

Factory records say 0139 E was a Vignale Coupé new to Compagnie Richard in Brussels.
