Now that my diff failure is a fading memory I wanted to do something with the old parts. The image of African hunting trophies came to mind so I bought some unfinished wooden plaques at a local art supply store. A little stain and Varathane from the hardware store and some bolts and clear fishing line and bingo, Ferrari trophies!

I'm keeping one set of my parts for the Den, but I gave the duplicates to my Ferrari Owners Club chapter to sell at car shows. Cavallo Motors also generously donated more parts from different models. We managed to sell a few of them at Bella Italia and the rest we will offer to the public at the Coronado Speedfest. Proceeds benefit the club and local charities.

The marketing angle we're using is "own a piece of a Ferrari." This is the kind of thing I would have bought before I actually got a real F car. Besides, a real Ferrari doesn't fit on a desk very well and makes a lousy paper weight.

    I love it.

I started keeping interesting parts some time ago. I had a twisted half shaft from my Daytona. But I think I gave it to the new owner.

    I have a cam.

It's not like I'm keeping brakes and clutches.

    I like the dif gears.

very good idea how to go on using those F parts.

hopefully the F factory will not go and get you a fine because you are selling not official parts with the F banner?

These are all real Ferrari parts from our cars. They are worn out or broken and would have been thrown out if we didn't mount them.

Don't worry, nobody is getting rich off of them. The proceeds either go to charities or the FOC, which is a non profit.

The people buying them are mostly Tifosi who can't afford a real Ferrari. We're actually helping the factory by spreading the faith.

Heck, we'll take 'em. Or you can do the same thing we did. They're just very labor intensive.

Thanks. Created it in PowerPoint and printed on glossy photo paper on my home printer. Glued it down to the wood with cold mount adhesive sheet material to keep it nice and flat.

And if you weld the old parts together randomly and sell it as a sculpture it could be worth more than the car the parts came from! All you need is for a respected art critic to praise it as a bold new direction for modern art.
