Suppose you are that rich and obsessed enough with F1 and manage to buy a Ferrari F1 car, say the F300, is there enough space inside the cockpit to turn it into your bed if you are not that corpulent and you remove the steering wheel?

This. Having just come back from sleeping 2 nights in a row (annual desert race, part of the Dakar challenge) sleeping upright of a toyota landcruiser; having to be drunk enough not to care anymore is the only option.

While I can't speak directly on the F-1 cockpit, I will say that the seats in most modern race cars are amazingly comfortable assuming it fits you properly.

Most seats are poured to perfectly fit the driver. I had one made for my smaller open wheel formula car, and I've fallen asleep on the grid before a race. Sleeping 8 hours is another story and I doubt it, but short naps for sure.

Was that taken at Goodwood FOS this weekend?
I was there and I know that after Kimi could be arsed to drive his F1 car up the hill following John Sturtees, he just sat in the car at he top of the hill. All of the other F1 drivers and stars jump out of there cars and sign autographs and greet people who had been waiting for hours in one spot just for Kimi and he just sat there. Some might think that was good old Kimi, but had that been any other driver.
Oh yea Rosburg was supposed to be there on Saturday but was no were to be seen. So Lewis was the star of the show, after all it was the Mercedes celebration at the Goodwood FOS. He meet and greet the fans with a usual smile and enthusiasm.

At many times over the years, cameras have caught F1 drivers having decent catnaps in their cockpits before waking up and getting down to business.

Can it physically be done? I suppose, but why on earth would anyone want to sleep in a carbon fiber cocoon?

'cause it is much more hip than sleeping in a tin-foil hat to keep out those alien or NSA radio signals.

Yes, I think I see a slight smirk at the corner of Kimi's mouth. ;)

Without the steering on, I think the's space..comfortable space. With the steering on, and you have to raise your arms to control it, then i think it's not enough space.

    For catnaps...why not :D
