308 just had piston and valves replaced, car runs great for a while then just shuts down. i can wait a few minutes and starts right back up. when car shuts down I have no electrical components that will work for a moment, then its like every thing resets, and the car will start and run fine for awhile. I checked fuse and rely box, no fuses were blown, but the relay for the fuel pump was quite warm. so I pulled the relay and reinserted. got power back and the car started ran for a while and shut down again. Any possible solutions or opinions welcome.

Definite sign that the trouble is in the primary battery connections (positive or negative battery terminal, negative quick disconnect, negative cable connection to chassis, positive cable connections at starter) or the 4-way distribution connector behind the fuse/relay panel (nothing on your model is smart enough to "reset")...

    What Steve said.

I would particularly suspect the main battery connection on the stater since that one would be the most affected by hot v. cold engine temps. The loss of all the other electrical supply could also be related to that starter connection momentarily shunting to ground internally (as in intermittently bad / failing starter) ---- as a worst case scenario. But, a simple bad / loose connection is probably all it is.

Also, since the engine was recently out / back in, and your problem appeared right after that....... connections in the engine compartment are the most likely to have been affected.

Loose connections can come and go with changes in temp --- cold to hot and back to cold --- which would account for your observation of things seemingly "re-setting" after the engine cools down.

A less likely suspect could be your ignition switch failing. Do you have power (such as to the courtesy lights with a door open) when "everything shuts down" regardless of whether the ignition is on or off ?
