I was talking to a guy from a dealership about my 355 and he says only really low mileage 355's sell. I am assuming he meant for any decent money. I am having a blast pushing my car towards the 40k mark and the way I'm going its coming fast. So my question for the experts is breaking the 50k mark the kiss of death when it comes to selling one of these cars for any somewhat decent money? What about crossing the 75k mark? If I put 75k on this car is it only good its going to be is a parts car to sell one piece at a time? Does anyone know someone that put 75-80,000 miles on a 355? As used parts become more scarce over time I wonder if parting it out would be the best way to get rid of it?

There was a 80k mile 355 for sale last year. I recall some talk about it, but I don't recall what it went for. The short of it is, in the near term, high mileage Ferraris built in the last 20 years are hard sells. Not unsellable, but you lose a significant segment of the market and the remaining buyers will be looking for a steep discount. . As time moves on, mileage becomes less of a factor, relative to condition.

I would counsel you to continue enjoying the car. You may get bludgeoned come resale time, but it's all relative. Depreciation wise, you will still be in a far better place than had you purchased a new Mercedes AMG and drove it the same mileage!

The one with 85k miles went for around $30-$35k iirc. Not sure on the condition, but it didn't have any glaring issues in the ad.

I honestly don't think parts will be an issue, there were enough made that somebody will make parts for them. You don't see a big issue with the 308/328 or even BB/TR's getting parts even though they're another 10-20 years older.

I would think a 60K mile 355 in good shape would be worth about $35K retail.

In my experience with a 40k mile car: most dealers will not touch it. A 60,000 mile car...you are certainly going to be on your own. It becomes a car that is going to be worth more to you than the market.

I had good luck selling it here, because the folks that know the cars will buy a known good example with higher miles vs. an unknown with lower miles.

But this is what I see as one of the biggest downsides to Ferraris. You are not expected to actually drive them.

He is a very well known owner and very active in the local Ferrari community. The car was very well taken care of and all maintenance and records that a buyer could be looking for. For a 60k mile F355 Spider he probably got the most anyone could get for one because of that.

It comes down to market perception and not necessarily the reality when it comes to miles and an exotic. For sure buyers will use mileage as a price guide or to make their buy/no buy decisions. There is always a market at some price. If you want a decent guide to mileage adjustments, check out KBB or Edmounds for their adjustments on higher priced cars. Make up a high-end Porsche model and apply different miles to it to test the results. I tested it and it shows about a 6.5% deduction. Just a tool.

    To the OP,

Keep driving it those distances! The only depreciation you'll face is another birthday with a smile on your face. If you don't need to sell it for a personal cash-starved reason, then absolutely keep it. There are those 355 owners I have read about that can't do more than 5k miles without exorbitant maintenance costs.

Many wish they had a 355 that could roll that far.$$$$$$$$$$$$$
