Based on my current collection, what should I get next? Currently: Ferrari F355 Spider (gated) Porsche 930 Targa (modified to 450hp, g50 5spd, coil overs, ect) Subaru Forester Lexus LS430 Its been a while since I've gotten anything new, and I love what I have, but I've got the itch. I know I'm not as interested in a paddle shift car as a stick. I'm just not into the 360, 430, 550. I like the 458 Italia, but its too expensive. Figure a budget of up to $150K. The cars I'm thinking about are the Testarossa, 512TR, Diablo, Murcialago, or maybe a track dedicated car like a GT3, or Challenge Stradale. Or who knows what??? Another temptation is to sell the Lexus and lease a Maserati Ghibli Q4. Based on what I have what would be a good next choice and why?
How about the 512? Love those. I spent an afternoon with the Maserati and I found the quality lacking. Basically its a 5 series level car for 7 series money. Your Lexus is much much better built.
There is a gated 599 for sale in the ad section - rare car. Though, likely breaking the $150k budget. There is a $150k Scud at CNC, though 30k miles and somewhat off color (which I personally like).
They made thousands of TRs. The 512TR is much better and more usable. 512M is the last and rarest version. Regardless, TRs will always be available, due to shear numbers. Engine out on these is also very expensive. Since he already has a 355, no need to saddle him with more expensive maintenance. How about 612? Classic front-engined V12 Ferrari, relatively rare for a modern Ferrari, almost practical, faster than a 360 around the Fiorano track, and reliable. One of the most underrated Ferraris at this time. Prices are much lower than they should be.
I just bought a Diablo roadster recently. Everthing you want in an exotic, rarity (450 worldwide production), modern performance (530 hp) yet a vintage feel, great sounding mid-engine V12, a useable elegant top (unlike a Murci), and a beautiful traffic-stopping design. The other car on your list that I am targeting as my next daily is a 997 GT3......another old-school feeling car.
Based on his current collection, and his $150,000 budget, I would assume that the "expensive maintenance" is a non-factor.
I'm thinking a Ferrari 512 BBi would be a great car to add to your collection. I happen to like the look of the black ones best. . Image Unavailable, Please Login
The TR will give you a Ferrari GT experience. And it has a flat-12! Unfortunately their values shot up way over my budget this past year or so. What a beautiful car. For knife-edge performance, I've heard nothing beats the 360 CS in F-dom. GT3 if you want something you won't be afraid to thrash. Comes down to what kind of car you're looking for. Happy hunting! 我從使用 Tapatalk 的 LT29i 發送
Sell the 355 while you can. Get a Jag F type. Keep the Forester for work and the Porche for play. Lexus is fine but dull. Bentley?
Consider the 997.2 GT3 which has all the relaibility and power of Porsche that you've become accustom to. You could drive it daily and then take it to the track with a simple change of wheels/tires. It does all you've asked for. The 2011 997.2 GT3 was the last manual trans offered by Porsche, has the same mechanicals as the GT3RS minus the body kit and is $50-$75k less in price. With an easy check at the OBD port you can determine if it has ever been over rev'ed which is not possible in Ferrari. Depending on mileage these can be bought at around or below $100k and they may actually appreciate. None of the prospective cars you listed will provide the reliability that you've become accustom to - don't underestimate that in your fun factor. Read about the F355 and 512 servicing$ in the forums. The GF had a 2011 Maserati GT Spider; it was stuck at the dealer's service bay 3 times in succession, completely undriveable between Nov and March; Battery, wiring harness and finally Transmission ECU ... then she became so jaded about the car that she sold it.
I would say it is a good time to consider a front engine V12 such as a 456 or 550. In the very short time I was at Sphere those two models were my personal favorites and both can be had in 3-pedal. No engine out belt service and both have amazing low end torque and fall into your budget.
I just moved on myself but did not stay in the Ferrari world. I sold my 77 308 GTB before Christmas and as much as I liked it for 14 years it was time to move on. The car I purchased was in used Ferrari price range but I wanted to get a more modern car without the high service costs. My selection was to get a fun convertible that has style and looks and would be fun to drive. I only have 1 fun car and based on my age it will be my last so I want to enjoy it as much as possible before I need to buy an electric scooter. Get something you will enjoy and have fun.
I agree. The 550 pricing is very favorable right now. I would also add the more recent 612 to this list as well.
