Apparently a security PIN# is given to the owner when he purchases the car that will allow a manual deactivation of the alarm should the Fobs die. It hasn't been passed along and I would like to have it, who would I contact to get it?

    Thanks!

You have to contact your dealer, provide a copy of the title in your name and a copy of your drivers license. The dealer will then contact Ferrari of NA and they will obtain the code from the factory. All this costs around $500.

I was advised by my dealer that Ferrari's records are not what they should be and they cannot guarantee that the code will be the correct one.
I was in the same pickle but elected not to chance it so I keep a spare fob hidden in the car as well as spare batteries for them. I also change my batteries every 6 months. The chance of two fobs not working is pretty remote and I always have the third fob at home.

Sounds like I will be keeping spare batteries in the car! Thanks Alan.

I got mine for no cost from Ferrari of Salt Lake City. Confirmed by Ferrari/Maserati of San Diego, also at not cost. Parts manager entered the VIN in the database and provided the alarm PIN and radio code. Registration/Title required to get this info.

I'll check with the dealer but for $500 I can hide FOBs and batteries all over the place...

Yes, I managed to get mine for free but didn't want to mention it ;)
500 is a lot of money for an email exchange with Maranello!

Pun not intended I can assure you or I would have made a point of it. :)
Don't know why my dealer wanted $500 -- maybe just to get some more income for the dealership.

I do, it was their way of saying they never wanted you, or anyone else you know, to set foot in there again...

Incidentally, there is no database a dealer can look up that will show you the Alarm PIN. That is close hold at Ferrari in Maranello to prevent theft. Radio codes are widlely available.

Dumb question, but have the Master Fob in the my hand and I see no way to open it to replace a battery. I see what looks like a threaded hole in the back but that's it.

Edit: Never mind, I saw on the spare that there was a small chip where someone got a bit rough prying it open. Pops open easily, battery is a 23A 3LR50 12V - #2300336.

Was $500 last week here in Dubai as well.... seems crazy expensive to me and I'm sure if you have a good relationship with the dealer you might negotiate... for me, as I've never used the dealer I had to pay up.

Time will tell if it was money well spent or not!

Actually, the head mechanic at the main dealership here in a major Capital City in Australia told me that all the codes have been sold to an operator in an Eastern Bloc country, and are now held in a safe somewhere.... Seemingly impossible to see the light of day ever again.
    True story!

Remember what Nancy Pelosi said -- we have to pass the bill to see what's in it, well you just have to buy it to see. :)
