I've spoken to them too. They have no service history at this point. Can't even tell when the last belt service was done despite the fact the F-car dealership that did it is part of the same auto group.

They say they have already agreed on a price with a buyer who is buying sight unseen with no information on the car.

Sales contract went out yesterday. Expecting it back before week end. Went for sub $59k.

even though I'm not dealing with these guys, this annoys me given their wording in the ebay ad. to quote: "Over the years, the vehicle has received factory maintenances, oil changes, tires, etc. all documented, and included you’re your vehicle purchase"

yet they have no service history?

So as a hypothetical to the group...

What value would you put on a:

Perfect condition (sans carbon fiber or stickies)
    True 3400 mile
    95 gated 6 speed
    Red tan 355 GTS
    Time capsule?

I'd bet there would be buyers for that car at $75k plus

    Thoughts?

In the UK that would probably go for just under GBP 100 000 (USD 160-170 000) - approaching double regular market - especially if GTB - so maybe over USD 100 000 let alone 75

Not trying to drive you crazy Dave!

I don't see values going down at all. Looks like asking prices are going up on all but especially on GTS and GTB. Not many listed in the usual places where of course inventory of spiders continues.

I understand there is no official way to track agreed sale prices. But I would buy a good 355 now or be very sorry later... Not as an investment but before people that badly want one get priced out.

I've got mine so all good.

If service was done at a Ferrari dealer then the records are all on FNA's computer and they can be recovered. I have 18 pages of such printout on my car. So I don't know who's BSing you. But sub $59k is right where I expected it to be. What did I say, $50-$60k car they just want to flip. Nailed it again. :)

Of course, we will have to wait to see where the auction goes. Holding at $54,888.

Anyway, just goes to show the value of a 95. There is a yellow '98 for sale, buy it now at $58.9k that's been up since 7/1 and no takers. These cars look great in yellow. Ferrari 355 GTS | eBay. If I was in the market for a pop top can I'd go for it.

    Without a doubt.

I'd suggest that if a car is purchased sight unseen for asking price without any records within 24 hours after it was listed, it's safe to say it was under priced.

It will likely show up at black horse or with MBrandon in a few weeks will recovered service records and a fresh major with an 85k asking. And, it will sell.

Could be. That's what happened with the 99 F1 spider I mentioned. Was wholesaled to a dealer in AZ for $55k (that's why it was offered to me at $55k) who did a major and fixed all the other problems and then put it up for $84,900. Sold to someone within a month, and it was a spider! :) Like I said, I suspect the Lambo dealer just wants out from under. He isn't going to keep it on the lot waiting for a buyer. Maybe you'll see it at Black Horse in FL. He has been known to go that route, and he doesn't seem to mind sitting on a car for as long as it takes.

Just checked. Black Horse has a red/tan 1995 spider with 20k miles listed for $75k and a red/tan 1999 F1 GTB, 13k miles for $79k, and a sale pending on a black on black 1998 GTS F1. And it's coming to New England!

Yes its mad isnt it, but great in all ways for the UK.
Though our UK market is light years apart from the US market.
Heres a spider for £100,000 with over 2K miles on.
    Dick Lovett - Ferrari F355 Spider - £99990
This spider with less than 4k is up for £94,000

I'm gonna be pissed too when that happens. For all the advice about buying a quality car, PPI, compression, leak down, etc there is just no time. These cars are gone before you can do any of that.

These car dealers and other "professionals" figure they'll buy it cheap enough, take the risk, which they can mitigate alot better than an individual who has to pay retail for any surprises.

I was thinking for $50k I would have taken it as is and that would give me some room in case I got hit with one of those $20k service bills sometimes mentioned.

    Flame Suit on :D

I think PPI's are over rated. I did not do one with my car and all is well. If you are educated and do your homework, you can spot a good car from bad. Yes, you can't spot the internal mechanical time bomb so there is a level of risk. If you buy a well serviced car, one with a fresh major as I did, it's a pretty safe bet.

I would not rule this car out yet, it's not sold until it's sold.

No need for a flame suit, i have never had a ppi on any of my ferraris, and i have had a few. I take care of it my self, however i also understand that many like to take there cars to specialists to have the air in there tyres checked.

I know. Was just having a little dig at those who believe '95 / manual cars are worth more than any other variant. :)

Nice sleuthing. Spring valley is right where wide world ferrari is. Surprising it wasn't serviced there (Lambo NB claims it was serviced in NJ)
