We have talked about this before i know but the consensus was that no Daytona's left the factory with door mirrors fitted.
These photos I found in the Aus. section a while ago. I was looking at them again and it seems to show some Daytona's with door mirrors, the photos were taken at the factory in 1973, sorry I can't remember who's copyright. They also show Dino's with two different types fitted. Maybe it was just for specific markets, does anyone have any more photos or info?

    To me.
It looks like the red Spyder, the red coupe next to it, and the two lighter color Daytona's against the wall have mirrors, they all appear to be LHD cars.
    Maybe its a 1973 addition?

Mine didn't originally have mirrors on it. I had them fitted to make driving on the wrong side in France a little easier.

legend has it thats because the importer/dealers took the boxes apart, placed the tool kits in a closet, parts on the shelf and sold those items separately.
i even heard that the warranty booklets were removed so that owners didnt know car had a warranty period.

In the US the requirement of the side door mirror went into effect on January 1, 1968. Whether the dealer installed it or the cars came with is a different question.

Part 571, Federal Motor Vehicle Safety StandardsStandard No. 111 - Rearview Mirrors - Passenger Cars, Multipurpose Passenger Vehicles, Trucks, Buses, School Buses and Motorcycles
    (Effective 1-1-68)
This standard specifies requirements for the performance and location of inside and outside rearview mirrors. Its purpose is to reduce the number of deaths and injuries that occur when the driver of a motor vehicle does not have a clear and reasonably unobstructed view to the rear.
