Hey guys. I had a friend of mine (welder) make a tow hook for me for my F355. He used 16mm threaded stock with a two degree pitch and as you can see, it fits/works perfectly. For some reason he thought I need two, so I have a spare. If anyone is interested, I'll sell it for exactly what I paid for it ($40) plus shipping. Henry

Does the hook fit the tool tray properly?

I doubt it. I built it to be functional and didn't have an original toolkit to measure up with at the time. Still available (in yellow no less) if you're interested though.

Forget the tool tray! Many owners leave the tool kit at home anyway. It's a good idea to carry a tow hook in the car should it need to be put on a flatbed.

That's a darn good tow hook you had made up, Henry. I'm surprised no one has bought it yet. I would, but my F355 Challenge already has one mounted in front and another in the back. ;)

Leaving the toolkit at home kind of defeats the purpose, no? Mine always sits strapped in the trunk. I've only had to use it when a fog light was out during inspection but I can't fathom why you wouldn't keep it in the car.

They are pretty much just a novelty. It just a handful of cheaply built cheesy tools. They most likely would not help you in a real breakdown and anything else can wait until I get it back to the garage. I can't imagine trying to use those wrenches and snapping them to pieces. :)

My tool kits (other then the tow hooks) are sitting on the shelf at home. More room for my wife's bags.

Well, the light bulbs/belts and fix-a-flat would all work. Not sure about the simple tools, maybe just the screwdriver for the lights. Seems pointless to leave it out of the car unless you were going to fill the trunk for a trip (which you'd think is when you'd want the tools on-hand). Probably also why so many cars lose their tools...

Mine is always strapped in the trunk. I used the tow hook last summer to get the car onto a flatbed. Without it I don't know what I would have done. The other tools I agree I wouldn't imagine using them in a break down situation.

Apart from the tow hooks, the Ferrari tool kits are as good as a chocolate tea pot, in fact they are as soft as liquorice. One good road side emergency job and the tools will never be the same again. I feel the same way as the f355 luggage I have, it serves no more use than just eye candy. If I was to use it any more than once it would never be the same again, the way it looks and smells.
Na, both tools and luggage are just ornamental jewellery for an owner to say his cars complete.
When I go on long trips I also have my own tool box, with the tools and devices I know I really need in an emergency.
This is just my opinion, ignore it. Untill you break down at the road side and you attempt to use your liquorice spanner, then remember it :D

Thank you, Dave. As an added benefit, now I know what is supposed to be in the compartment by the seat. (I had been told it was for an umbrella.)
