If anyone has a phone number could you give them a call. This is what happened when I went to their website:

Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) in /var/www/vhosts/trutlands.com/httpdocs/includes/functions/database.php on line 20
Unable to connect to database server!

Maybe it's just me.. but I have no problems with other sites.

Do you think that they noticed the drop in sales? ;-)

It does that a lot. I've seen it occasionally over the past 2 years. I would think they are aware of it as often as it happens.

Yup -- I've had that happen numerous times over the years of my Ferrari ownership. It definitely costs them, as I have actually switched my orders elsewhere.

Ted is so busy he can't see straight. His new warehouse is about a mile from where I live so I drop by and harass them every now and again. Just saw Ted yesterday and they are just insanely busy.

You can't use the site, you need to speak to them and even then it can take a long time to actually get a part.

Ha, I always just thought that they "turn off" the site for the weekend...

Maybe they are using plug extenders for filters and the info is "scattering"...

Call them and speak with john, that works well also. His response to every single item I inquired about for the last two years is " I'll have to check on that and get back to you". But he never checks and never calls back. After the forth phone call I placed in a week about the same cloth hose I said "screw it" and purchased it out of the UK.

But the guy handling their eBay site is great! Very helpful and got back to me in less than an hour.

To be fair at this point I think every single major parts supplier has flaked on getting back to me about something, I don't think it's exclusive to TR. That includes UK suppliers as well.

As for a serious reply to the OP, I think they are in dire need of a new web host or IT personnel or both. The "/var/www/vhosts" suggests they are sharing a machine with others on a cheap hosting plan, which is totally common, but maybe they have the traffic volume to justify going dedicated. Or maybe they are in fact running dedicated could be using jails or virtualization for security, so I can't say for certain. Just thinking out loud. Either way it's annoying as a customer.

Based on the code, looks like their database for stock, is located on a different server than their shopping cart, and its not connecting to the two, so when you go to process the stock order in realtime..essentially... there is no "shelf" to pull the stock from...

I understand how frustrating this is as a buyer. It kills the deal for me and I don't return.

If they want they can talk to me for free about solutionss. At the very least they could use Shopify and have a hassle free, working ecommerce site.

Hey everyone, yes to say that we are busy in an understatement. We are slammed. John is no longer with TRutlands. We wish him the best. I run Ted's ebay accounts and his website has been a thorn in Ted's side. There have been integration issues for a while and we are fed up with the IT guys at this point. Please continue to call or email us, we would love to have our new site up soon but who knows. We have been inundated with calls & emails and Ted and I are answering them all. Once we have more staff put in place it will be much better. Anyone can feel free to email Ted or I, or you can call me anytime. If anyone has not seen the new, much larger location is Buford, please come check it out, its really fantastic, especially the Wall of Ferrari.

Nah, looks like it is hosted / run by MonsterCommerce (part of Network Solutions, a Web.com company - never a good sign). Not sure if they are using the hosted MC shopping cart, or if they run their own shopping cart.
If they just need hosting (and a database), I've get a few machines that I'd be more than happy to host them on... I'd look more, but, well, the site is returning the MySQL connect error again and so cannot see the HTML.

I went to the site to try figure out what happened to an order I placed more than a week ago - it hasn't shown up, so I went to look in my email -- looks like I never received any, so perhaps they lost the order? This must be costing them significant orders, and goodwill.

Yeah, in the past the database error has only persisted a few hours. Never seen it go this long. Shame too because they have one of the best parts lookups for the 308 with clickable parts diagrams of a Euro QV that I haven't been able to use.

It's frustrating. Tried there site multiple times. It made me go elsewhere for parts.

Guys this isn't Walmart, if you want that experience trying ordering ferrari parts from amazon. If that doesn't work for you stop your internet whining, man up, and support an enthusiast supplier for our cars

I got my brake lines, fuel pump, and spark plugs from Amazon. :D

Maybe the thread got a bit abrasive but I think overall it's solid constructive criticism to help them bolster their website. I know it would take a lot more than web host issues to make me stop being a customer, probably the same for most others here. If we didn't support them we wouldn't care if the site worked or not.
