If you Google "775 473 4430 porsche" you'll see a search result for an ad three days ago in the SFBay CraigsList for a Porsche Carerra GT in "mint condition."

    https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/ctd/4564771153.html

But if you click on the ad, you get:

This posting has been deleted by its author.
(The title on the listings page will be removed in just a few minutes.)

Surprising that none of us have heard of this guy, yet he has access to a plethora of supercars.

My across-the-street neighbor has an aunt in Ely. If she wasn't a sweet 75-year old lady, I'd have asked her to go knock on the door at that address with a camera phone recording. :)

I think you should drive down to Ely in your F40, park in front of the house, and wait for the truck to show up.

The 'attack' was his questioning of Steve's intelligence, and statement that he's lacking in intelligence.

As far as I'm concerned, anyone with an F40 is probably smarter than I am, because I don't have an F40.

And, with a name like Steve Jenkins, I'm assuming he's a Gringo like me!

Just got off the phone with Deputy Robinson of the Sherrif's office in Ely. The address is a duplex... and belongs to one of the churches in town. The pastor lives in that house. It's also two doors down from one of the police sergeants.

Mark Raider claimed in one email to an individual who asked about the address:

"this is where we meet the customer. We are just around the corner. We are not a dealer ship, we have a Warehouse and low security, we do appointment only."

The deputy laughed when I read him that. He said "There's no warehouse around the corner."

He agrees that this smells to high heaven like a fraud, but the Sheriff's office will be watching on Thursday for the car to arrive, and that if it really does come into town... they'll know about it. He'll sync up with me again on Thursday or Friday.

I have a question and its going to sound bad and get me flamed but I am serious.

What does it matter, who cares if he tries to sell your car ? I have seen my Dino for sale quite a few times on e-bay and one time they even used my picture of the car on my front lawn. I notified e-bay once (never heard back from e-bay and didnt follow up with them) and ignored it the other 2 times. My Singer 4AD was for sale once and again they used pictures of my car on my property, someone in the club notified the e-bay seller and he added a comment that the picture used on the ad was "what the car could look like when you restore it", I took that as a compliment :) But really why does it matter if they use your car to con someone out of their money ?

Now I have to say something about that last sentence, as I really believe that NO ONE on this earth will get conned out of any money on a half price F40, by the time you can afford a F40 you have seen and heard all the tricks out there, the "seller" wont get a penny and I am not even sure why bother trying. The fewer con artists/scammers out there the better for all of us so while I wonder why go to the trouble I do appreciate you going the extra mile and getting the authorities involved and shutting this guy down.

I am not speaking for Steve by any means but I chance a guess it is based upon the principal of performing business honestly and legitimately. At least we know his F40 is safe and sound at home.

I don't think it sounds bad, and I don't plan on flaming you. But I'm happy to explain why I care.

This guy was using my car as bait in a fraud. He was referencing my VIN in doing so. This bothers me for two reasons.

First, and most importantly, it offends my sense of justice and integrity. I don't want anything of mine being involved in a scam.

Second, and less importantly but still important, it "clouds the water" around my F40s VIN number. There are many who track Ferraris very closely, and record all sales, offers of sales, and basically any time they "pop up" publicly. I wanted to act swiftly and state clearly that this individual has nothing to do with my car, that my car is not for sale, and do so publicly in a way that can be indexed by search engines so that if anyone does happen to include this false offer for sale in the car's history, I can point at something from the same time period of Internet history and say "Uh... nope!"

You got it, I was thinking the same, why would he do that and than I remembered my Mothers saying " Only bad people thing bad about other people" and I did the opposite and goggled him and not Raider and BOOM ! Convicted Felon ! Wow !
Regarding my relationship with raider well, there is none, I do not even live in the States so
    there you have it.
On another note, how the hell can you call someone a fraud, scammer, thief or whatever and that is fine but if I question someone's intelligence I am banned??? But than again, a Mod who claims intelligence is measurable by the car you drive, well that says it all. All Enzo drivers must feel smarter than Einstein. Ready to be banned, 3,2,1,................

Thanks for answering, I guess I can understand it since he is using your VIN, in the case of my Dino when it was on e-bay with my pictures, they did not list MY VIN it was a different VIN, maybe I would have felt differently then.

What is the VIN on that Dino :) and that lawn needs watering :)

Anyone burnt by such a scam will sue everyone even remotely perceived to be involved.
Any action against steve will be fruitless but could be expensive and temporarily enjoin him from full use and enjoyment of his car.

WTF is the matter with you? Dude get the chip off your shoulder and come back to earth.
I know that a lot of angry people come to forums and vent.. but really? Stupid people usually don't make good decisions in life, and thus can't afford nice cars. Unless I'm missing something? Many smart people don't start life with millions and have to make their money. A does not equal B, and B does not imply A. Get it?

Back to post... If you see a fraud ongoing you can look the other way and not do anything.. or you can speak up. IMHO either is going to happen depending on the type of person an individual is. If someone uses a picture of you or your property to commit a crime... anyone with integrity is going to call it out.
