Used 1989 Ferrari 328 for sale in Hampshire | Pistonheads And it does not have a Mansell history......
Here you go with its french equivalent; and as it comes from Spain, it does not have Alonso history either! (well, he was eight years old in 1989...) Photos de Ferrari 328 Gts 3.2 L ROUGE à Gaillac (81) | Annonces-Automobile N.2639112 Rgds
Nerofer, mint cars now are closer to 70 k euro than to 60 k euro. The Mansell one cannot cost less than 100 k euro. I just saw a very good car (very good but not mint, a paint problem on the front and redone seats) sold for 67 k euro here in Italy (sold price, not the asking price). The Mansell one could not cost just 60 k euro... ciao
Well then I guess that this all makes sense. 100k Euros for a LHD and £100k GBP for a RHD(which they made less of) and its very comparable. You say that 100k Euros is a bit stiff however I don't think so, not with that low mileage. Also apart from the difference in LHD and RHD, you cannot differentiate or limit the car you mentioned to France only. This car(which I presume is based in France) can(and most likely) will be bought by a person in another country. There are no borders any more with the internet and the right cars are transported globally everywhere. So cannot say anymore the French market is like this or the Italian market is like so. The market is now global.
What I found a "bit stiff" is that I bought 80515, my '89 GTS in January 2011, with 19.300 kms (about 12.000 miles) in priostine condition for less than half of 100.000 euros... Rgds
Ah, but that was 3 years ago my friend! It pains me to say it, but that is a world of difference in todays fast running classic car market.
Thats true when you get into the high end. For example there are more 288 GTOs in the UK than any other country and all of them are LHD.
I'm too found of italian classics, Alberto! For the time being, she stays. (sorry for reposting that same pic...) Rgds Image Unavailable, Please Login
I was joking Nerofer: i knew you do not want to sell the car, but I'm always looking for a pristine 328 like your ones. Better if red or yellow. The price of a 328 depends from its conditions: a superpristines car cost much more (60-65 +) than an average one (45 k euro?). Talking of prices, my red 328 GTS costed (three months ago) 52 k euro + 2,5 k euro (luggage set) + 6,5 k euro (full service at a Ferrari official assistance point) + 1 k minor cosmetics (some schratches in the undercarriage, anticorrosion undercarriage restore, small schratches fixing) = 62 k euro. That's almost mint like your one, not so much but close. I think a pristine 328 is a real beauty and a fantastic car: this also means a lot of money to have it. ciao
Well, speaking of yellow, low-miles 328s...I am told that this one (that I did post a few weeks back) has sold a month ago, in exactly two weeks, for the asked 80k , or "very close to". B2B MOTORS Rgds
It looks a fantastic car. Thanks for sharing: i did not see your previous post. I would like to ask you this: i sometimes saw some leather in the interior close to the rear windshield. Is that a factory option or just a car with problems to the textile interior so they changed it with leather? I mean the zone where there is the hand in the picture here below. Thank you very much. ciao Image Unavailable, Please Login
From what I've seen you could get practically any combination for the interior you could think of, though most cars seem to have been delivered with fairly standard choices- but not all!. Most red 328's sold in the US apparently had either black or tan/brown carpeting, but European delivery cars were often done in red carpeting. I chose to redo my interior, as follows, but I've seen some of these choices made on other cars as well, and I think they were very likely original. But anyway, here's what I did: I made new seats to fit me (I'm too tall for the stock seats- notice how the new seats go all the way back to the rear bulkhead), and I redyed the upper door panels to match the new seat leather. I replaced the cloth at the rear with black vinyl to match the vinyl dash material, and dyed the door armrests and pulls black, as I did the front console. The center console leather had shrunk and could not be repaired, so I used the black vinyl on it as well. Looks very nice. The new carpets are red Wilton wool, from a World Upholstery kit. Hope this helps- Cheers, Rich Image Unavailable, Please Login
Alberto, This was one of the very few factory option for the 328, to have this part and the roof liner in leather; very few cars has these, which is a pity, as it adds a lot of class to the car, plus it is very pretty! My GTS has it, I'll try to post some pictures tomorrow. Rgds
Alberto, as promised: Pictures of the factory option "rear window leather surround and leather roof liner". The car on the first six pictures is my GTS which has grey leather and black carpets. Note that on the pictures from the inside, the car does not have its usual top, but a transparent top, called "Saratoga Top"; this explains that you do not see the roof liner in leather in these pictures, but I have provide a picture of the top itself alone also. Excuse the poor quality of the pictures, taken with a Blackberry. The last picture of the serie is the same "rear window leather surround and leather roof liner" option, but in a GTB; it is not my car but one picture posted by a fellow f-chatter on another topic; I hope he won't mind. Well, not exactly, Rich... A very large part of all the 328 produced were in a very small number of standard combinations of leather and carpets. The catalogue gave you the choice between seven standard colors of leather and five colors of carpets, but most cars did follow a very small number of patterns, which seem to differ from one market to another (more on this further on). Of course, you could order a special color for leather or carpets, but then you would have to wait a bit longer and to pay extra. Cars that are not in one of the three or four standard patterns are the exception, not the norm. It seems, from all the cars I have seen, that the "regular pattern" for RED cars was: - in the UK, Crema leather (the Brits usually call the color "Crema": "Magnolia"; it is off-white in fact) with red carpets. - continental Europe: two thirds of the red cars have Black leather, half with red carpets, the other half with black; the last third have beige leather with "castoro 172" carpets - United States: most cars have beige leather and "castoro 172" carpets. You have of course a few exceptions to these rules, but they are exceptions...most "Rosso Corsa" cars are in one of these standard patterns. For cars in other colors, the patterns are more dispersed, but there are still peculiarities for each market. For instance, I have never been able to understand why I have not seen to this day an originally french-imported car (Red or any other color) with "Crema" leather? It just seems that this leather color was not proposed here, whereas you see a lot of UK cars, or Italian cars fitted with Crema leather... You will not see a french car fitted with a body-colored roof spoiler either: all roof spoilers on french market cars (when fitted, as it always was an option here) are always black. Whereas you could order it in body color for no additional charge, and a lot of German-market cars have the roof spoiler in body color, a lot of Italian cars too; but no french market car has a body-color roof spoiler. Rgds
Wow.. I have often wondered why the choice of color for the A-pillars was either black or black. But that has color coded A pillars! Looks fantastic! Or was this a retrim?
Thank you very much, Nerofer. Then the leather is not only on the horizontal part but on the whole rollbar., correct? I'm asking you that as the "famous" my 1985 308 GTB QV i wanted to buy had black leather just in the horizontal part on the cloth near the rear windshield, so just where there was the hand in my picture and in the small upright part till tu the beginning of the rear windshield ciao
Yes Alberto, you are right: on the 328 the leather is on the lower horizontal part, on the lower vertical surround of the window (small upright part), on all parts (horizontal-vertical-under the roof) of the side windows, and under the rollbar itself. This of course when the factory option "rear window surround and roof liner in leather" has been taken and paid for (note that on the 328 you cannot choose only one of the two in leather, it was always "rear window surround and roof liner in leather" combined TOGETHER (one option only, for both rear window surround and roof liner). On 308s I seem to recall that only the horizontal part + the small vertical part under the window itself were done, but this on all cars (so, not an option) and not in leather but in vinyl (?). This should be verified by 308 experts... Rgds
In this discussion i like to show my full leather option May 1988 328 GTS (with ABS). This is a German car that was that time ordered with all option: rear spoiler sprayed in the colour of the car, ABS and leather package being: dash and A pillars, rear window area and Targa roof inside. The result is beautifull BUT 2 issues: 1: the leather thrinks more than the standard black-vinyl dash. So I had to repair it 2 years ago (using the original leather by the way) 2: on sunny days the dash reflects more than the black vinyl in the front screen. But at 1,- I purchased a small black towel that i put over part with the speedo and RPM indicators which works perfect. 3: even more leather to maintain.... It seems that only 2 328's have been supplied in this colour with full leather. best regards, Menno Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well, your car must be 77623 then, Menno? Because the other one in exactly the same leather standard I have is 80488, built in late February '89, which is still in Germany. BUT there could be more: to the best of my knowledge, the full list of all 328s is yet to come, so we must always stay careful when saying "this is the only one of two", etc...unless certified by writing by the factory. The dashboard, which is normally in black vinyl, could be ordered in leather as a paying option (this separately from the "rear window surround and roof lining") in any color, but the factory recommended nevertheless to stay with black, this to avoid reflections (seems, by reading Menno, that they were right...). I have other 328s in my lists with full leather interior in only one color even for the dash, armrests, etc...for instance 80347, which is a french Argento 101 (silver) GTB, which has the interior totally in red, except for the steering wheel. Rgds
Reply to "Nerofer"... OK, I oversimplified but from all the postings above one could be forgiven for thinking that a client could have nearly any color/material combination he/she could think of. The actual point that I was heading towards was that you could change the color and material scheme around somewhat and most of us would be hard-pressed to definitely say that it wasn't- or could not have been- original. Mostly. In any event it really doesn't matter to me, as I chose to redo the interior as I wanted it, not what the importer ordered originally. Color choice aside I really HATE the stupid textured cloth. Matches nothing else, collects dirt, and cannot be cleaned, when stuff gets into the deep textured parts of the cloth. That's why I went to black vinyl (I chose a pattern that is a very close match to the dashboard vinyl). As for "all black", I've had so many British sports cars with all-black interiors- cloth, vinyl or leather- that to me it was time for a change, to something with a bit more life in it that went with the car. So, red carpets. Cheers, Rich
Mine is indeed 77623! how could you know? You are right by saying that you never know but I have seen so many and never seen nor heared except from a 2nd 328 on F.chat which likely is yours. Reflections is an issue but simple to overcome and you must know as well that the appearance in this colour is great. I did do a 100% interior restauration because the colour was affected by the sun and the leather on the dash had thrinked making the looks around the 3 ventilator outlets looking no good to my standard. On F.Chat.eu I did a long thread of this adventure with all interior parts (incl. dash) removed and recoloured. regards
