Having lunch at the local Diners on Sunday, park my Fcar outside of the restaurant. 2 older folks saw my car and ask me how much it cost? is it like 50-60k? I smile and say a bit more...then they asked me if I use a gun a robbed the bank.. I am not sure if they are trying to be funny or just being mean. I just said i don't like gun and a good citizen and ignore them...

I wonder if Ford should start to pay Ferrari for every time someone says "is that the new Mustang...." :p :D

Yep! Just avoid the combo of short skirt / roof off if we don't want to amuse the truck and bus drivers! And for the elegant occasions, a vintage Ferrari GT is unbeatable.

Some teen to his friends regarding my 360 Spider:

Kid A: "What the hell is it?"

Kid B: "I dunno man but it's badass"

Kid C: "Is it a Bugatti?"

I declined to respond or even acknowledge that it was my car, haha.

But hey, at least they knew it was something special. :D

That was more recent, but a little ways back, it was parked in a "not-so-good" area of town and was confused with the new Mustang. Don't know how, don't know why; no questions asked.

That's a pretty common one I've read about. It hasn't personally happened to me - some people will ask if it's a Lambo or a Porsche (because they see a shield on the car).

Man, the youth today makes me sad, what with their general "disinterest" in cars and transportation. When I was a teen, I could identify any exotic car!!! And I couldn't wait to get behind the wheel. These days, well, their priorities are elsewhere I guess.

^ When I was growing up a car was a symbol of freedom. A sports car was even more so. Today the internet is a kids access to freedom. It seems to me kids are less interested in cars and more interested in technology. Extend that a few decades and I'm afraid it doesn't bode well for car collecting as a whole. Personally I had set my goals early to acquire the cars I loved in my youth and achieved that goal many times over. If kids care less about cars who will buy, care for and restore them in the future?

Today a woman was crossing in front of me at a crosswalk. She stopped in the middle of the street and came up to me and asked: Is that a Lotus?

    No, it's a Ferrari.

That's the most beautiful car I have ever seen!

While I was driving a Friends F12, think I heard this comment like 3 times. I just nicely smile and putter off slowly like a Prius driver would :).

What you should have said is "whats that odor" and taken off. Zing.........

Great topic. Some of the ones I hear..

"My uncle owned one but sold it because it was a piece of junk"

"That's a pretty good kit car, almost fooled me"

    "Is that your boss's car?"

I am not sure why you would want him to respond with such a rude comment, she told him it was the most beautiful car she's ever seen.

Camaros are for people who want Corvettes but cant' quite afford them. Corvettes are for people who can't quite afford Ferraris.

So you're just two rungs up the ladder. :D

Today I was at a red light, and the woman beside me was looking over. She was about 65 years old. She asks "what kind of car is that ". I tell her it's a Ferrari, she squints and says "oops" (implying she is embarrassed she didn't know). I wink at her and smile and say "no worries, all good, there is no oops here". She smiled back and said "that is a very nice car".

A bunch of 6-7 year old kids playing in the front yard yelling at me that they love my car as I drive by.
Big thumbs up to them as I drove by. I'm sure they didn't know what kind of car it was....

One guy who followed me on foot when I drove into a shopping mall parking. I saw him as I drove in and he reappeared a few minutes later when I had stopped at a ATM to pull out some money.

He started taking picture with his car phone asking if it was alright and mumbling what a beautiful car it was. Much to the amusement of a woman who was waiting behind me in the ATM.
I took his phone from him and told him to get in the drivers seat (much to his shock) where I proceeded to take pictures of him in the car.

Made his day and gave me a smile.

If this is the kind of response you would give I would be embarrassed to drive similar car to yours (so people would not consider me like another a..hole)
