Hi all, well heres my first thread as a 348ts owner, 1993, UK spec.

If you look at the photo you will see an unusual switch on the bottom left corner, the semi circle with 3 lines. Looks like a lamp switch of some kind or a UFO scanner:)

I have looked at the owners manual and is a non-used spare blank switch. But this one has that logo on it and does actually click down and back up when pressed again.

    Any ideas what it is?

    Many thanks.

    Thanks

That's what I thought at first but the interior light has its own switch next to it on the roll over bar behind the seats on the ts models.

If it's the same as a 355 it turns the dome light on/off when the doors are closed and the switch on the light is set to go off when the doors are close. Seems redundant but really not. The switch on the dome controls how the dome light responds to doors opening or closing. This switch is simple to turn the dome light on/off regardless of the position of the switch on the dome light itself.

I just tried it but seems to have nothing to do with the dome lamp. I turned the ignition on and tried that odd switch with the dome lamp switch on and off vice versa and also with ignition in off position and did nothing at all.

Sorry to say but it's not an under body neon light kit either:)

Has anyone else got this button in their 348?

Wild guess, but do you have an after market security system installed?
I have a different style switch for my older Alpine Security System on my 348 but maybe some one went thru the extra time and money to make this look really nice.
Mine is a Valet Switch so that someone can park the car without the alarm going off.
But, then again what do I know, just throwing out another possibility.

My 91 TB has the exact same button so it was factory for something. I just got the car a couple days before I had to leave town for my two weeks away from home for work so unfortunately I haven't had a whole lot of time to play around with it and can't say what the button is for. Now that I've seen your post I intend to figure it out when I get home next week. :)

You sure? isn't for the infamous "winking headlamp"? press it as you pass a pretty Italian girl & the headlamp winks at her.

I bet that is a US manual. In the US cars I've see the switch is black with no silk screened image.

Looks like a Weber grill, so, an engine bay light mounted under it's cover (grill) of course.

Some really funny suggestions here are cracking me up:)

Brian, Mike, do you have the same logo printed on the button and does it work when you press it so stays down then releases when you press again?

For those of you without the logo printed does it work like a real switch too when you press it or doesn't move at all?

I reckon we should set up a prize for who discovers it.

Is there a similar logo on a switch on a 355 maybe?

Just took this photo of my 348, never used the switch so not sure if it works, my US Owners Manual says it is non functioning.

Thanks Clyde, I just looked at the 355 manual and it's the roof light switch as mentioned earlier in this thread. Does it actually function in your car or is it a mystery button again?

I looked at various 348 owners manuals on the Ferrari database and is always shown as not used.

When I have time I will remove the switches to see if there are wires connected to it. If there are then it's even stranger because it does nothing to my roof light:)

Oh well maybe we we learn something here

Mike, it will be very interesting if yours actually does anything, please let us know

    Cheers.
