COTA releasing USGP ticket prices. Looks pretty similar to last year. $169 for 3-Day GA $299-1300+ for 3-day GS ~$200 for parking If Formula1.com is a good indicator, it looks like the 2 T11W GSs are gone. They suck & were practically empty this year anyway. BTW, COTA settled with Kevin Schwantz and also made him their motorcycle racing ambassador. Apparently, someone pulled their head out of their ass about that gaff last year. Kevin actually ran the track today for the first time ever....he was instrumental in the track's design back in the Tavo days.
I might even start respecting Bobby Epstein if this kinda behavior keeps up: Riding COTA on the back of a Suzuki piloted by Kevin Schwantz: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.844124915613850.1073741894.219399881419693&type=1
People called us liars & much more way back when we broke the COTA hotel booking scheme story. They were wrong. "Hotel owner sues Circuit of the Americas over hotel rooms" (for about $59,000). Hotel owner sues Circuit of the Americas over hotel rooms | Formula Austin | www.statesman.com We'll look up the petition & see what else we can discover...
From the petition: I wish I could say I was surprised at COTA's response. I'm not. You can see the petition here: http://tccweb.co.travis.tx.us/index.php?_module_=esd&_action_=viewimage&id=854675&t=CIVIL ...and you can see related docs here: Neubus
Never underestimate the ability of companies to shoot themselves in the foot...with fully automatic weapons if necessary. Lawyers in tall buildings will eat through that $59K in a heartbeat.
Exxactly. How much will they pay their expensive tall-building lawyers to keep from paying that $59K.
Governor candidate Greg Abbott goes karting at COTA with Bobby Epstein: https://www.facebook.com/gpamericas/posts/836312166383330 Some of you might remember this shot I took last November, when Abbott also assisted Governor Rick Perry and Red McCombs awarding trophies on the podium of the 2013 F1 USGP:
3 months before USGP, COTA hires new concessionaire. Is Sodexo out? https://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Journal/Issues/2014/07/21/Facilities/COTA-concessions.aspx
Most of the Sodexo caterers I observed seemed to be rather overwhelmed, and poorly supported. There was a French lady in VIP Turn 1 that tore them a new one.... The ones out on the grounds were fine, but those were second tier vendors
I recently paid $300 to have access to a nice track South of Houston (MSR), as a guest to a member, and had a great time. there were about a dozen cars on track that day. Can I or someone do the same at COTA?
Yeah....that's what I figured. COTA is more interested in selling the track for big corporate events, rather than to the enthusiast and to the public. Its a bad management decision. COTA wants the masses to come in and pay to see races, but only a couple of times a year. The message is..."stay out of COTA folks, unless I organize an event, then show up". Dumb approach IMHO.
So you can drive MSR for just $300 if you piggyback with a member? What a deal. Seriously. I need to get my STi out there, since I won't be driving it at COTA anytime soon. I think I also read that you can drive TWS for like $250...at least until it's torn down.
interesting. Sodexo is our competition and has lately not been doing so well in the USA. they have had a lot of upper mgmt turnover. Making money at one of these events is hard - and providing service even harder. you have to work with a lot - almost 100% temp labor who dont know what is going on.

... if this moment, right now, the COTA people had to cut a check, for US$250 thousand? It would bounce. In hoc up to its eyebrows, burning cash like firewood, COTA is so far in the red, it's purple --asj.
