You said page 1 (you are mistaken, but that is no surprise since you are mistaken on other issues as well). Also, I see you decided to take Vince's post (and mine) out of context. By the way, what is wrong with the one post of Vince where he states you do not need a pension to own a 355? Looks like he is supporting the 355 ownership, not bashing it. Vince was responding to drbob101 when Vince was told that it would cost the same to service a 348 as it would to service a 355. Vince came back with facts, to which I added the valve guides/headers issue. Please correct me if we are mistaken, but does the 348 require the service bill of a 355 with respect to that issue? I didn't realize that countering a post with facts is "kicking a hornet's nest". For your convenience, here is the exchange: One last thing; in your search to try and find 348 owners that bash the 355, you missed this post from me:
Wow... you really just impressed everyone! Congrats! The fact that you feel the need to inflate your own ego so often on this forum is amazing to me....
No, I guess it is to hint at the fact that you don't get to ride the other mentioned item often enough and that's why you're so uptight you can't recognize a joke. Maybe you can use some of your tremendous buying power to get yourself a massage with a happy ending. Find some serenity now.
Didnt mean to be ******, when you said "rode in one " sounded more like you were referring to a car, maybe you meant " on one " easy mistake the i is right next to the o. Lol You ride in a volvo , you ride on a vulva, lol " serenity now "
I've never understood this idea that the 355 is so much more expensive to service. Do not a 348 and a Mondial T need the engine dropped to do a belt change? Do not the 456, 355, 550, 575 and 612 use the same water pump? Don't the 348 and Mondial T require valve lash adjustment that is not required on a 355? If you look at the base price for various services that FoLI used to have on their web site you would see that they charge the same for annual fluids changes for the 360, 355 and 348, and a simple oil change is the same for all plus the 308, that a 355 clutch is cheaper than that for a 308, 348 and 360, with the 348 the highest priced, that brake service is more for a 348 and lastly, the basic price for a major on a 348 is some $500 more than for a 355 (due to the need for valve adjustment?). Frankly, I think one reason 355s may have higher service bills is because people buy them knowing the rumors and then when they have them serviced that are easily swayed into having additional services done, just in case or while we're in there, because of what they have heard. Thus the rumors are perpetuated and many service techs aren't particularly forth coming in helping to dispel rumor from fact.
Yes, please no hard feelings on either side. I was just trying to make a joke on my original post and maybe worded it a bit wrong. If you look at my posts I try to stay out of the whole chest thumping junk that this place has deteriated into unless it's to throw in a light hearted joke. It seems at this point everyone has their noses so far out of joint everything is take vindictive. It's all getting pretty old and the entertainment value has depreciated faster then a 355... Oops.
entertainment value has depreciated faster then a 355... Oops.[/QUOTE] . lol . simple misunderstanding. I'm a very down to earth guy , a dumb mechanic, so its easy to take offense to what can be misunderstood as attitude . maybe that's what i'm doing wrong , i'm riding on it , and she wants me riding in it . lol . btw brian , spectacular looking 355 , love the look with those wheels. first fcar i considered buying was the 355 that "boaties" ended up buying , had those wheels.
Wish I had these first world problems. They are Ferrari's and all cost more than an average car to purchase and maintain.
Before I take any well-considered action for name-calling, I need to know which muppet you're referring to. Mike
well this isn't a Porsche forum , so it can't be Kermit the frog. lol Image Unavailable, Please Login
Curious, I just did a quick Google search of the average number of parts on a car. The highest number of parts that I could find came from Toyota as listing about 30,000 parts down to the smallest screws. Having no idea of how many parts there are on a 348 but being conservative does a 100,000 parts sound about right ? And if that is a good number does that mean that if I put a million 355 parts on my 348, quote, "I have seen a million 355 parts transplanted unto the 348 and I have never seen one 348 part transplanted to a 355...." do I now have 10 355's instead of one 348 ?
I would like to apologize to any 355 owners if I upset them with any of my posts. I am a very strong supporter of the 355 and had strongly considered adding one to my stable (that has since changed to a 458). Those that know me can defend my character and will tell you that I try to be a gentleman on this forum. In fact, I would like to be the one here to quash the silly tone that this thread has converted to, and propose that we all agree to drop the ugly and pointless debate between the two very beautiful (in their own ways) Ferraris. I will say this once again; the 355 is one of the most elegant, sexy looking, vehicles ever in automotive history.
No 355/348 But i bought, and still own 4 3x8s without any history. Just trusting my own judgement. All 4 turner ooit to he problem Free cars. I fully agree, history files are highly overrated. Common sense appears to work for " normal" cars But when It comes to ferrari everybody seems to loose faith in it's own judgement
No, I didn't ask you what clown because clowns, in general, are scary to some people. And, as my dear, departed grand-father used to say..."It's takes a clown to know a clown." I can see you know your clowns well... Muppets, on the other hand, aren't scary to anyone, except maybe two-year olds. Mike
I just reread the entire thread - yes that makes me a masochist. I can see how the nastiness came through. If everyone who could read every post that was not praiseworthy of the 355 in the most negative light, this is where you'd end up. Really. Go back and reread with a more generous and humorous attitude. My suggestion would be to allow some of the 355 owners to have their own section. The rest of you - and you know who you are - should stay here with us 348/355 Brotherhood where you belong.
Lol, I don't think your character needs any defending. There's some thin skin at work here, I was just trying to point out that it wasn't unprovoked and that there has been a recent history here of that. You just happened to wade into the backlash. Right or wrong, people have had enough of it. I just like seeing how many words I can coax out of Pete (Nosevi) or I'd have probably stayed out of it.
