You'll understand if he declines to try that scenario.
Smart drivers play to their strengths.

If you guys remenber Kimi winning the title in brazil, you should also remenber Nico making a fabulous pass after the mais straight...i was praying fir him not to tke himself and the other guy as this would have given the title to crybabayham

I don't think any driver tries to go through that scenario. Ham didn't plan for his brake to fail in Hockenheim, but he responded by driving from the back onto the podium.

I know a lot of guys who like Nico, but I find him dull. When you start on pole, win the race with no drama, no passing... it reminds me of the days when Vettel or Schumacher dominated each weekend and you didn't have to watch the race to know who would win.

Lewis, Kimi, Alonso... these are the guys that make F1 exciting as they don't have perfect runs.... and have to pull-off crazy passes to make up for their endless problems. But when they win a championship, it's a real roller-coaster ride for their fan, and that's what makes it so much fun!

Yes but this is to be fully expected. Mercedes are the fastest car. With or without FRIC etc. Had LH not been in the top 3 this would have been a supreme failure. I am not at all surprised to his result. It always going to happen on a dry track without failure or accident. Rosberg and LH should not surprise anyone by doing this with the current car.

Oh good. I was worried that was only obvious to me. Mercedes IS that dominant.

My only question is whether MB will remain that dominant for the next two years. Since it is in the engine, there is a good chance/risk that this will be the case.

    How frozen is engine design?

Will Honda learn from other's experience and build a world beater?

    Brilliant point!

I forgot about them joining the party late. Of course they will do anything they can to copy the advantages of the MB system. Even if they had a working engine before. Just my guess.

They could indeed change the balance of power. So Alonso with McLaren for the 2015 championship?

    And the first part.
    How frozen are they?

I suspect that the FIA will allow some design catch up the way they did for Renault not that long ago.

    Not quite as much as some would have us believe..... Hopefully the attached turns out to be legible - It's a copy of the last page of this years technical regulations and the "interesting" part is actually the very last line;

"% of PU being frozen; for 2015; 8%"

As you can hopefully see, this percentage increases substantially over the life of the formula. In fact it's not really 100% clear how much is truly frozen at all *this* season.... We know they have to submit a unit to the FIA for homologation, but maybe they can do that multiple times....

    Cheers,
    Ian

Interesting how votes continue to trickle in, and indeed Nico has taken the lead for, I believe, the first time, since Germany.

Still awfully tight of course, and I've still got a bad feeling its going to come down to the double points disaster at the end, but at least its not a one horse race.

    Cheers,
    Ian

It's pretty much gone back and forth since the poll began. There is probably a growing sentiment that Hamilton's poor luck is a season-long trend. I think that, given all his troubles, to be down only 14 when Rosberg's season has had only a single flaw, leaves him in a good place. Should he win Hungary and Nico have a problem, I wonder how many would hop back on the LH bandwagon?

True. I thought LH had pretty much always been a hair ahead though - Mods, is it possible to "graph" this over time? Would be interesting.

Indeed - But AFAIK (?) you can't change your vote, right?

You have real fans and then you have sheep so it would be an unfair comparison.
