308 a/c improvement

Hopefully it will be worth it. I certainly don't have extra money lying around to waste. Seeing as how I have the front bonnet and interior stripped bare I thought it was now or never to address the weak links in the AC. The entire interior and front end will be refreshed to better than new including the AC now.

If it wasn't so damn hot here I'd do away it completely.

 

That's because you have one. I have no compressor, brackets or lines and refurbished compressors without the clutch kit are 5-700$ from what I've found.

 

Mine is O.K. too, but everyone seems to bag on them. I guess we are spoiled by our modern cars. Just don't get me started on my '75 Pioneer supertuner AM/FM cassette. I never turn it on.

 

Surely there are some good used parts out there. The lines could be made locally.
Your car would then be "original", and you could be in the R12 complainers club!

 

Touché. I'm still searching. If I can't find one ill end up buying that kit. R12 doesn't bother me I just want to keep cool when it's 85 degrees out.

I doubt they will all be around that long ---- have a few parties that said they want some of the parts, but so far no one has executed, so it will be whoever gets there first.

I stopped by Retro Air in Carrollton, Texas, today (July 25) to discuss upgrading the AC on my 328.

They gave me a tour of the facility, showed me parts, talked about procedures - great, straightforward folks.... Norwood Auto Italia in the Dallas area referred them to me.

They were _very_ knowledgeable and what it takes to do AC on 308/328 cars. All the parts I saw were first rate.
